MinosFL Posted June 30 Posted June 30 So my radar in the hornet just is not locking targets I am press the TDC depress and radar is in operate and it just is not locking on. Just to make sure I set my datalink OFF so I knew it wasn't a datalink target and i still couldn't lock it this is honestly getting annoying because it makes BVR combat basically impossible. Below is a picture of my MFD with the radar this happened to me when I was playing the None Shall Pass instant action mission.

Are you sure you turned link-16 off and not link 4 by mistake? -It's really hard to tell from this tiny image but it looks like the elevation is set too low at 4 thousand max and the target is at double digit altitudes. -The target is beaming

wilbur81 Posted June 30 Posted June 30 (edited) Can't really read the altitude on that HAFU, but it looks to me (as stated above) that the bandit is in double-digit altitudes while your radar is only looking up to 4k. Radar Elev, up, and your there. As to being directly behind the bandit, if there's negative closure, you likely will need Medium-only PRF to lock him up...your in Interleave in your screenshot. There is no other way i can help diagnose otherwise. There can be a hundred different legitimate reasons that it wasn't able to detect that target 1

Probably random luck that either you manoeuvred in such a way that radar picked up the target or the target moved in such a way as to put itself into your radar cone. It's no longer completely accurate (things have changed since it was made) but I'd still recommend searching "Radar like a boss" and watching that video to get a better idea how to use the F-18 radar. And definitely adding a track rather than a picture is much more helpful. Edited June 30 by rob10 1
