I know that my cockpit on a motion platform creates very challenging conditions for a VR headset. However, tracking always worked without any problems with my Reverb G2.

I'm still experimenting with the Crystal Super. I've hung dozens of QR codes on my walls, I'm sitting in the basement, and I've darkened the only available (dark) window. I've tried a wide variety of lighting scenarios and, especially with passthrough, made sure that the environment provides good contrast without flickering.

Nevertheless, I still experience the phenomenon that the Super loses tracking over time. I have already read about a similar problem on Reddit, where tracking is increasingly lost when the headset is taken off and put back on.

Has anyone had similar experiences or already found a solution to improve tracking with the Super (or, if the Light is affected, there as well)?

Hello,

Could you please submit a support ticket and export the log files so our engineers can analyse them?

Additionally, I’ve received the upcoming patch notes and noticed that there are a few optimisations related to tracking and room setup included in the next update.

I had similar problems with my Crystal Light. My Rift S, Reverb G2 and Quest 3 headsets all did head trackng perfectly

All sorts of light setups, qr codes, waving my hands in front of headset (actually works somewhat) really didnt make it better, and newer software updates made it unplayable

It definately got worse over time, usually after 15 minutes I had to quit DCS

I finally went to a lighthouse setup (2 HTC Vive BaseStation 1.0, HTC Vive controller (used) and Pimax Lighthouse faceplate)

About $500 for everything...yes lots of $$ but the difference is DRAMATIC.  Shame we have to spend this on a $$ headset

With the lighthouse faceplate, the stock controllers dont work anymore if in lighthouse mode.

The HTC Vive Controller is needed for room setup and centering the headset.

You might be able to live without the controller but I use XRNS and without centering the headset with Controller, when I would look left or right using XRNS, the view would be from outside the airplane.

You still need to center the headset thru DCS after centering it with controller.

Thank you very much, I am fully aware that tracking with Lighthouse is a completely different matter. Unfortunately, the faceplate is not yet available for the Super, but yes, I will definitely buy it, as with the entire cockpit setup on the platform, there is always a risk of restrictions in head tracking.

Incidentally, the new version of Pimax Play seems to improve room tracking, but I did experience some strange lags while flying, which caused movements to be delayed briefly, which was very unpleasant. I'll look into this further and try rolling back to the old Pimax Play version when I have a little more time to see if that's the only reason.

The latest Pimax Play is giving me the same momentary freezes but on the OG Crystal (with a 5090 now and maybe it's crap NVidia drivers in the mix, who knows or can tell anymore).

What the actual frack?
An aditional €172,95 EUR to get the Pimax to track properly?
Now I understand why neither tech support or software/firmware updates could not get me flying straight.
The wobly wibble is default.

Which controller did you get? 1.0 or 2.0?

I had exactly the same, with the new Pimax Play I got a spike every few seconds, very annoying, before that it was running smooth (i9 14900 & RTX4090ti). I then uninstalled Pimax Play and installed an older version (1.29) and everything was smooth again. HOWEVER…..when I restarted the PC after playing for a while without issues, I got the message that my headset was unavailable and I couldnt connect the headset anymore.  I then reinstalled the latest version of Pimax Play again, and to my amazement, all the stutters and spikes were gone!!!! Its running smooth now with the new version 🤷

These freezes and stutters you guys are talking about, for Crystal Super, OG Crystal and Light - are you talking about in DCS? Or is it in every game you have testet?

Due to very limited testing time, I could only play DCS. But as mentioned before by Chris, after a couple of restarts my lags where also gone. I still find it hard to get a proper room tracking due to my setup. Waiting for the lighthouse faceplate for the Super…

Ok,

If it is the same thing, a «solution» (until they fix it) might be found here:

I hope to get my Crystal Super today - hope it works the older Pimax Play too.

I've done a handful of test flights in DCS with the Super on a 9800X3D and 5090, so far it's performed very well. The one and only issue has been a visual pause that it either overcomes or leads to a freeze and crash. IL2 has exhibited the same issue.

Chief suspect: NVidia drivers.
