Forum question: How to jump to first unread post in a thread?

I've noticed that sometimes when I access a thread I'm automatically placed at the first unread post, and other times I'm placed at the very first post, often pages back from the first unread one. Is there a way to control this behavior so that I always go to the first unread post by default? If that is the default, what might I possibly doing wrong that causes it often not to happen? And is there a way to jump to the first unread post?

BTW, I thought that somewhere there was a subforum for questions about the forums, but I can't find that. Please move to a better location if that is appropriate.

I am always logged in when I access the Forums. The difficulty occurs on threads I access through my notifications, which are not available unless I'm logged in.

Notifications about your posts being liked, or notifications about new content being posted in threads you are subscribed to?

Notifications about new content is where I have the problem. But not always. Today, for example, it seems to be working more or less as expected. But not on Saturday when I opened the thread. Then when I clicked on notifications about new content being added to the Newsletter thread (which I follow) I was sent to the top of page one of the thread. Doing the same thing on newer notifications today I'm sent to the relevant new content.

The only occurrences of weird forum behaviour like that - that I have noticed - is when ED deletes (or “hides” as they call it) certain posts. If there’s a lot of moderation going on, that function doesn’t seem to work properly.

Other than that, I haven’t seen an issue with it…
