Gun Jam Posted Friday at 11:16 PM Posted Friday at 11:16 PM (edited) I think my super is arriving a bit sooner than expected... like tomorrow. I need some pointers are how to get the most out of this with as few mistakes as possible i dont have unlimited time. Everything was lined up and I was going to just follow the tallymouse setup for DCS but It looks like at least a good part of that is invalid now due to the new pixmax play software. 1) Do I use the new pixmax play or is that a waist of time? It sounds like it has some advantages but overall is worse... I dont recall anyone saying it was better overall. So im confused about this. 2) If using the latest PP software is indeed a poor starting point Do I use the version from tallymouse guide or is there a later version that is better? If I should be using the version from tallymouse or one that is compatible with his guide can you please link it? 3) is there some other route I should be following to get the best dcs experience out of this using DFR. Is there a guide for this route. I really really want to avoid another VR1 mess I watched that thing get developed for a year and a half and 2 months before it arrived I had a plan figured out and by the time it arrived software was updating and nothing worked, eyetracking was not great, open xr didnt work, steam was better but didnt support eyetracking which wasnt working well anyhow. I see that trying to repeat is self now but this time Im thankfully not the first and there is actually a functional community support on the forum here because more than 3 people own one. That larger community is more important than you might imagine at first... a never discussed pro. Thanks! Edited Friday at 11:19 PM by Gun Jam
Marshallman Posted yesterday at 02:23 AM Posted yesterday at 02:23 AM (edited) List your specs please. Personally still on PP 1.40 , my specs below. I have tried the pp right through to the hotfix but slight stutters occur .There are a few others that have rolled back. I followed Tallymouse setting generally but didn’t delve into the API ? layers and writing code into DCS . I also use nvidia to select the K setting for Dlss . The latest nvidia update was causing problems as well so i rolled that back too.. I’ll sort settings later for you which on my setup gives 90 fps on most maps. I’ll also tag some worthy chats on here too Best being Pimax Play v1.41.1 Regards Edited yesterday at 02:37 AM by Marshallman 3XS AMD RyzenTM 7 9800X3D, AM5, Zen 5, 8 Core, 16 Thread, 4.7GHz, 5.2GHz Turbo, ASUS PRIME X870-P WiFi AM5 DDR5 PCIe 5.0 ATX Motherboard,Nvidia Geoforce RTX4090,Corsair Vengeance Grey 64GB 6000MHz AMD EXPO DDR5 Memory Kit,Windows 10 Pro Reverb G2V2, Pimax Super 50ppd

j9murphy Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago I didn't have any problems with the install, but I think you'll find about as many opinions as people you ask lol. 1. I started by removing EVERYTHING related to VR from my PC. Is this your first VR headset? if so, you can skip that step of course. 2. rebooted 3. Installed PiPlay (i installed the latest), rebooted, started piplay again 4. Connected the headset for the first time - I did not connect the headset to the computer before installing piplay 5. registered and updated firmware, rebooted again 6. Configured my initial settings in piplay, configured play space as sitting/large, high resolution, turned on eye tracking and calibrated, set IPD, turned on dfr, added a little sharpening, made sure I saw the space scape in the headset - rebooted again 7. ran DCS the first time. no problems for me. Since I was on the latest version i wanted to see if I could get DCS to work before adding the mbucchia stuff back. was able to play DCS at 90fps in instant action no problem. Challenges I had along the way... - studioform comfort stuff is mandatary in IMHO, the headset is unusable without it. - really takes some fooling around to learn how to put the headset on and get comfortable while looking through the sweet spot, have to really crank it down to get a decent fov - if the chaperone comes on while in DCS it will cut your fps in half, you need to make sure your playspace is taken care of so it wont come on while your playing. - I still plan to try with the mbucchia stuff instead. 13900k/64gb/5090 1
Gun Jam Posted 14 hours ago Author Posted 14 hours ago Im running the G2 right now. My last new headset was the VR1, that didnt workout and ive uninstalled its software. I dont have any version of PP installed now or ever I do have WMR installed to run the g2 I hope I can leave that. It sounds like you are having good luck with the current version. I have the open Xr tool kit installed and maybe openxr for wmr. It sounded like the older version of PP gave smoother performance but with similar specs if you are getting the new version to work I might consider trying that... not sure yet. Thanks for the quick guide. Ill be using that.

I removed everything - WMR, open composite, all the mbucchia stuff, and all my oculus and meta stuff before installing pimax play - i did leave steam installed. I'm also on the latest version of windows 11 - did you stop updating to keep running WMR? There will be a steam alternative to WMR coming out soon that mbucchia is working on.
Gun Jam Posted 11 hours ago Author Posted 11 hours ago I didn't actively stop windows update... For some reason its never updated to the latest windows version.
Gun Jam Posted 5 hours ago Author Posted 5 hours ago I can't get the super to run DCS in VR. I followed the steps in the tallymouse guide to get dcs into pimax play. I launch from pimax play it stars the loading window. Pick launch dcs with VR... starts in flat screen. I tried added the dsc exe from bin and from bin-mt into the PP launcher... same problem Started steam vr then tried to launch dcs from PP... same problem Started steam VR and tried to launch DCS from the desktop icon ive always used... same problem. Im clearly overlooking what I think is an obvious problem. Thanks
Gun Jam Posted 4 hours ago Author Posted 4 hours ago ugh. the setting in general "open xr runtime" that shows open xr as being the run time... yeah you gotta click that because apparently that means "none" and clicking that activates the openxr runtime. Should = open xr runtime "none" with a pull down arrow next to it. then pick openxr runtime to use the open xr runtime... 1
