AI F-4E won't strafe, with or without gunpod

I noticed that the AI F-4E won't strafe, even if I tell it to attack from the best direction, with or without a gunpod. Not sure if this is specifically an AI F-4 issue or if other AI's show the same behaviour. See attached two tracks.
