arwasairl Posted yesterday at 12:21 AM Posted yesterday at 12:21 AM Hi, I would like it if the SPO-15 could detect launches for SARH missiles when "Automatic" is set as the threat program. If modifying the "Automatic" setting is undesired, create a third category called "Enhanced" or "Modern" that includes these threats. Currently, it is only set up to detect launches from the Nike Hercules, which is currently not in DCS anyways. Launches of the AIM-7 from the F-4, F-15, or F-16 yield no launch warnings at all in the current Automatic threat program mode. While I'm aware that the FC3 modules are not nearly as deep in terms of fidelity, I find it difficult to believe that anybody would be willing to fly the FF MIG29 (and thus purchase it) without the option to detect SARH missile launches when the FC3 MIG29 is more "powerful" in terms of a gameplay perspective. The Fulcrum is already vulnerable against ARH missiles and the fact that it does not currently detect SARH missile launches might not make this attractive to many people, at least in my opinion. Thanks

VinntoreZ Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago None of the modes can detect launches and I get it - it is realistic. But SPO thread database could be sent to manufacturer for update, so why not making the automatic mode being able to detect at least some launches. We're not asking for ARM's detection, but at least some SARH launches from planes and SAM. BVR is now kinda pointless, especially without ground intercept. That would be a great idea to have it behave realistically on Stock WP mode (since automatic mode doesn't charge much at all) and have launch warning detection on automatic. 1 ------------------------ VinntoreZ ------------------------- Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/@vinntorez My Modding Discord: https://discord.com/invite/6yqcEngfE8 Support my work: https://buycoffee.to/vinntorez
zerO_crash Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Complain to mission makers, not the realism of the module. What westeners do not get a 100% of the time, is that USSR built its air force primarily on the principle of cooperation between a single unit (aircraft) and a controller. Already that early, GCI was demanded, eventually an AWACS with compatible aircraft with datalink (Su-27). You can absolutely NOT approach a MiG-29 with the western wet dream of "I'll jump in my F-15 and win the war alone". Sooner or later, DCS would impact this wall, and imposr a very harsh reality on its (mostly) uninformed community. The current fidelity of aircraft released (and technologies available for/in DCS) makes that rather sooner. These aircraft are far too tuned to very specific requirements, for you to be able to simply throw away a component of them and try to make them into what they are not. A similar question would be to ask for a BF-109K4 to carry AIM-120C3 because today, a radar could be mounted on it and missiles fit. What you should be asking yourself is not "what aircraft do I want to fly, and let me use it at my own behest", but rather what mission interests you, as well as which doctrine speaks to you. (IRL, a GCI/AWACS would tell you about aircraft in the area, as well as missile launches. RWR was therefore supplemental at best, hence why no MiG-29 alone will be Captain America). If you want more realism, consider that upon the introduction of MiG-29, and for quite some time after that, MiG-29s would meet F-16s with heat seekers (AIM-9). I won't even mention F-4 and the reliability of radar guided missiles back then... 2 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
