Well after "trying" out the game for several months, the patch came out and I went out and bought it Monday. I try games out and if I like them, like I do Black Shark, I buy them. After reading here about the problems people have had with running out of activations, I went to work to prevent being unable to reinstall this game at some time in the future. I used Paragon software to make an image of my hard drive. Twenty six gigs fit on 2 regular DVD writables. So now in about 30 minutes I can fully recover Windows 7 Retail (permanently activated), Windows XP and Black Shark. Even my medals and the options are pre-configured to fly. Also, both partitions are de-fragged after the recovery. The game runs great and I don't have to worry about burning up activations anymore. On top of that I made 3 seperate archives of my drive just in case.

Great idea, but you wouldn't have to worry about activations for reinstalling anyway. ;)

The only time you lose activations is when you make changes to the hardware of your PC and even if you backed up your system: If you make enough changes to your hardware to trigger reactivation, your backup copy will no longer work with the new setup.

It's a great idea nevertheless. Gonna take a look at that software, too.
