PRMG guidance dies randomly after a time

For some reason the PRMG guidance dies during the mission. All that's left is the direct route to the selected airfield, with no guidance to the glide-slope.

In this video I'm flying from Mozdok to Maykop. Maykop is selected in the NAV computer, both the RSBN and PRMG channels are set, and it's in RETURN mode. I'm receiving PRMG guidance as evidenced by the steering circle located high on the heading tape. You can see me cycle the airfields to show I'm receiving guidance from all three programmed airfields. Everything is good.

At 19 minutes into the mission I lose PGRM guidance - the steering circle drops to the centre of the HUD. I cycle through and show all three airfields have lost guidance. The NAV computer doesn't show any change, I'm still in RETURN mode.

I've run this mission a few times now with the same result, although the time the malfunction happens varies (15, 16, 19 minutes)

Your issue is following:

1. You don’t need to scroll wheel for adjusting RSBN and PRMG, because they work in MANUAL mode only.

2. You had BEACON number 1 constantly selected. Which shows you direction to airport you took off from. You can see that straight yellow needle is pointed to previous airport. Minutes do not matter, but kilometers. RSBN has range of about ~240km. You have to select BEACON 2. But before, you had to program BEACON 2 in RSBN DTC tab and place second airport in that TAB (or a RSBN cars).

Please, provide DTC data to check if I am right. But I think I am since I have seen RSBN cars on airport you took off from.

Thanks, Daca - you were right.

I had three beacons set in the DTC but I didn't realise I had to select both the desired airfield and its corresponding beacon on the NAV panel - I figured that selecting an airfield would automatically receive PRMG guidance.

You are welcome.

Beacon number is automatic in selecting chanels. So you only need to select adequate beacon that is programed for desired airport.

Have a good flight.

That's a shame. I'm having too much fun twirling those knobs.

You can still do that, but you have to set AUTO - MANUAL switch to MANUAL. And then manual magnetic course on HSI and you will have to intercept radial by yourself...

...it is easier this way, with automatic beacon selector.
