56th FA-COM (Pershing Ia/II) Schwäbisch Gmünd/Mutlangen/Waldstetten

These sites have been (in-)famous for the NATO Double-Track Decision of 1979.
The MGM-31 Pershing Ia nuclear medium range missiles
have been stationed in and around Schwäbisch Gmünd (HQ) since 1969
and at the Waldstetten Bunkerwald Pershing Ia QRA site (after 83 only as a conventional storage and training facility). As a result of the NATO Double-Track Decision in 79 the Mutlangen army airfield was turned into the Mutlangen MSA (missile storage area) for the newly deployed Pershing II missiles. The area is already on the map ( very hard at the south end of the current map, but it's there ...)
