N206LG Posted Monday at 05:11 AM Posted Monday at 05:11 AM Looking for suggestions here on how to not have to download updates three times as I have three different systems, which happen to be using three different accounts but that is not really the issue since even duplicate installations with a single account would have the same problem. I don't have to explain the size issues tied to these modules especially the terrain updates. My question is this, can I safely and legally manually copy data between my three systems? Second question, is there a way to get the installer to copy from one computer to the next using shared/distributed file-system tech or something along those lines? I assume that, as long as all the licensing tech/files are not touched, this will not break anything. In case you are curious, I have two separate accounts for myself and my wife. I have a third Steam account that I barely use anymore because I didn't like how it lagged behind on sales and releases. However, that account, which is installed on my gaming laptop, comes in handy when I want to work on mission building. The fixed desktop stations are VR stations; mission building and other related activities are inconvenient on these as they are optimized for gaming and not for creative work.

The _download folder will be purged after updates, but a trick is to update one system, then just copy the whole DCS World folder across to the other system, and run the Updater/repair after. BUT I think you can share the DCS World folder and add it as a repository for the Updater on the other system. Now, I don't remember where to add that info to the Updater. In principle, if you had a really fast network you could install it one one system, share DCS World, and just run it from there on every system. (Except you can't mix Steam Standalone I believe). Then you would only have to shutdown DCS on all systems, and update it on the local system. It would probably lead to long load times for the none locals though. The lock file is created in the Saved Games folders, so they wouldn't lock each other out. 44 minutes ago, N206LG said: My question is this, can I safely and legally manually copy data between my three systems? You can install DCS on as many computers as you want to. The login ensures the concurrencies. 44 minutes ago, N206LG said: However, that account, which is installed on my gaming laptop, comes in handy when I want to work on mission building. If you use this one as the repository, you could bring it somewhere else with a fast remote place and update it, with no hit on your data usage. Cheers!
