In trying to update tonight, I ran into an error where the update process is trying to delete files related to the F-4 from the core mods folder. I tried doing a repair and renaming the first file that generated the error message (a .dll file) and even tried to delete it manually (Windows says the file is still open in DCS, but DCS is shut down. See the attached log file ( the error is at the end of the file.)

Have you excluded the DCS folders in your Anti-Virus solution? It could be that the file has been quarantined and the Updater believes DCS is using it.

Yes, the entire Eagle Dynamics folder is excluded. Nothing has been quarantined.

I misread. Thought you restarted your computer. Try that before a repair.

The reboot and then repair took care of the issue. Really weird and never happened with any other DCS update.
