BunnyKeeper Posted Tuesday at 02:25 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:25 PM Hi Badger, I'm very much enjoying the challenges you have set. However I have experienced the same refuelling issues in mission 8 and in previous missions were refuelling is required. The issue is I do not get a response from Texeco when making first contact or at anytime thereafter. I get into pre-contact position but still no response. after a short while my wingman confirms he has refuelled I then given the option to press space bar and continue with the mission. I have completed previous missions were this has been an issue with 100% success - albeit I have not hooked up connected to the refuelling hose. Also in this particular mission the landing on the Carrier is way more difficult since the DCS update on the 22/10/2025. Maybe something maybe nothing..... Mission 8.trk
Badger633 Posted Tuesday at 10:57 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:57 PM Hi @BunnyKeeper Are you using the correct talk buttons to communicate. They are different for on the ground, when using Radio 1 and when using radio 2. This may be the issue. It is explained in the brief notes. Regarding landing on the carrier not sure what that would be but ot would be a main Sim thing and not a Campaign scripting issue. I will take a look at the track. Hope this helps. BunnyKeeper Posted Wednesday at 08:25 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 08:25 AM Hi Badger, Thanks for the quick response. I don't think I have an issue with the radio comms - I was on AUX 3 as requested, the frequency was as described in the kneepad. As for the landing the weather was so bad, I also noticed when flying low over the mountains the aircraft was being buffeted around - as you say an ED issue. Thanks BK.
Badger633 Posted Wednesday at 09:55 AM Posted Wednesday at 09:55 AM So are you using the correct talk buttons to bring up the menu. BunnyKeeper Posted Thursday at 08:07 AM Author Posted Thursday at 08:07 AM Hi Badger, I carried out a DCS system repair before testing. I can confirm I'm definitely using the correct radio protocol. I flew mission 9 (early refuel in this mission) and had the same issue. I select Intent to refuel from the pull down menu but get no reply. Aux channel is set correctly. I've checked out Kenny's youtube vid for the above mission and I'm doing nothing different. Regards BK
Badger633 Posted Thursday at 11:05 AM Posted Thursday at 11:05 AM @BunnyKeeper Just checked out your track and also checked the mission itself. It all works fine from my end. As I have said I believe your problem is you are not using the correct key board buttons to bring up the correct radio menu. Once you have selected Aux 3 you need to select the correct button to bring up the menu. The standard button for Aux (Radio 2) radio menu in flight is "Rt Cntrl and /" I have a UK keyboard and have to use "Rt Cntrl and #" instead. You must use the correct buttons to bring up the correct radio menu otherwise the tanker will not respond. It is not enough just to select 3 on the Aux (Radio 2). This is explained in the link I sent previously. All works fine from my end. Hope this helps F/A-18C Campaigns : The Serpent’s Head / The Serpent’s Head 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5.0Ghz / Gigabyte 2080ti water force extreme / 32 Gb RAM Corsair Dominator Platinum 3600 / 2Tb Samsung 970 Evoplus NVMe M.2 / Thrustmaster Warthog Hotas / Thrustmaster Pedals / Valve Index.
BunnyKeeper Posted Thursday at 12:07 PM Author Posted Thursday at 12:07 PM Thank you for looking - I appreciate the time for you to look in to this. The subtlety of the radio comms was lost on me, since I have not had an issue in previous Campaigns I assumed because the menu came up that it was ok. I shall go back and try again. Thanks BK 1
BunnyKeeper Posted 17 hours ago Author Posted 17 hours ago All good here now Badger - despite me reading and re-reading the mission brief I still manged to miss the comms 2 advice. Matter is closed. Regards BK 1
Badger633 Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago @BunnyKeeper Glad you got it sorted. You’re not alone, lots of pilots don’t appreciate this aspect of radio operation. Enjoy the Campaign.
