After updating to new pimax play and or DCS newest updat DFR is extremely blurry/low res. I've tried everything

I have the OG Crystal, Have not flown in a couple of weeks, but last time I played DFR was working perfectly. I came back today to a new Pimax play update and a DCS update. Ran the updates, now when I play DCS DFR is unplayable due to the extremely low res output outside of the DFR box. To explain better, in the box where i'm looking and eye is tracked its clear. But anything outside of that box is at an insanely low resolution. I've tried restarting my headset, reinstalling pimax play, doing a fresh install of pimax play, running a repair on DCS, completely shutting down my headset, removing the battery and then restarting it but no luck. I've also tried playing with settings in piplay, trying to turn dfr off and then on again, switching between all the DFR presets, etc. When dfr is off DCS is at the normal resolution. I'm at my wits end, spent 3 and a half hours trying to troubleshoot this. Any help would be much appreciated it. I've posted a picture of what it looks like inside my headset for reference.

I reverted straight back, suggest you do the same.
Dont use Pimax Quadviews... utilise Mbuchia QV and repair every launch as it is broken by the pimax play.
Start DCS via its own app.

Dont know your system  but im on a 4090 and I run @72hz in the game. and its relatively good except for a couple of maps Germany is very heavy at present and i get stutters.

My system below

Totally agree. The new PP took me two days to untangle the blurred low resolution areas and poor fps. While the new features are a nice touch to have, but not at the expense of poor visuals and fps.

Eventually I managed to get back to a decent image a solid 72 fps using MBs QVFR & QFC while using the latest PP. In short I get the benefits of the new features without sacrificing the visuals.

System specs below.

One would also hope Pimax would more throughly test the new version before releasing it into the Public domain then these issues would not tarnish the company reputation and create additional work for users.

Thanks for responding, do you happen to know how to revert back to the last pimax play version? I've looked all over pimax's website and could only find the most recent release of Pimax play. The last version worked fine for me, but it seems they do not keep old versions available for DL? I used to use Mbuchia QV, but did like the simplicity of not having to launch it. Maybe I should check it out again. I have pretty much the exact same setup as you, 4090, @72 with a 14900. I've had my headset running perfectly with DFR for the las couple of years, just something with this last update broke something and I'm pulling out my hair to get it to work again.

I have managed to retain the latest version of PP and continue to use QVFR & QVC.

I uninstalled PP then went into Users/App Data/ deleted all Pimax Files and any relating to QV that may exist. This needs to be done in the Local and Local Now folders. Do the same for QVFR & QVC.

Reinstall PP, QVFR & QVC. You will have to reset your selections in PP (disable DFR and recalibrate EyeTracking etc but once done you can use the latest version and benefit from the new features and the benefits from QVFR & QVC.

Wanted to report back, I figured it out. The new pimax play broke something in the DFR settings for me, for some reason any of the selected default options for DFR set the render resolution outside my field of view to 8%. Didn't matter which one I selected, it set it to 8% resolution. (see picture). I was able to fix it by using the custom setting and putting in my own options. IDK why this happened, even did a fresh install of Pimax play, deleting all the folders in the appdata/local folders and the main folder and it still did it. Just wanted to post in case anyone else ran into this issue in the future. null

Glad you made progress. I tried the Custom Option and while improvements were gained I still prefer the QVFR/QVC option for clarity and performance.

I may have unclear with my earlier explanation but after deleting the App Data folders mentioned I would then untick DFR in PP allowing the QVFR & QVC to provide a better DFR experience.

I hope Pimax include a information note against each of the DFR options which mirrors the option categories in the Custom option so users can base line another setting option and then tweak individual settings to fine tune for optimisation.

Yeah, I understood you the first time. Its just laziness on my part, hehe. I already have to launch 9 programs just to play DCS: Logictec G hub for headphones, Simhaptic, DCR, Necksavervr, Simapp Pro, Pimaxplay, Moza Cockpit, SRS, Then DCS. I don't want to add any more to the list and I've found Pimax's DFR to run really well for me, no stutters and looks great. I used to use  Mbuchia QV's, but I'm happy with what I've got in pimax's version.

So, for my clarity, did you simply upgrade PimaxPlay, and then make those adjustments, or did you follow the step for the uninstall and directory cleaning Nuggetz suggested?  TIA

I'm on the updated branch of Pimax play, the newest one. On the previous version of pimaxplay(the one released a month or so ago), DFR worked perfectly for me. It seems when I updated to the new one, something broke making DFR set to something like 8% resolution and nothing I changed would fix that. I tried doing a complete wipe of Pimax play, and then reinstalling the newest one again(only one available for download.) That still did not fix the issue. After some more troubleshooting I found that "Enable Program Settings" that allowed you to select DCS in pimax play and change settings such as DFR, Resolution for that specific program was messed up and not changing anything under DFR options(maybe more options as well, didn't test). I fixed it by disabling "Enable program settings" and just doing all the settings from the "global" option(I think thats what its called.) After doing that, its working like before. So it seems like the update broke something that doesn't allow me to change settings for specific games. IDK if its the updates fault or something going on behind the scenes on my PC. I'd assume it might just of been a bug only effecting since I haven't really seen anyone else having the same issue.

Ok...I understand.  I noticed the same thing with the settings for specific programs not working well, and somebody else on DCS said you had to change a setting, apply, and change it back to have it work.  I think this is an unacceptable workaround.  It should just work as intended, right?

While Viper has the new visor, it's causing me discomfort...nausea.  So, I'm focused on other sims, not DCS until they make the visor optional.  So, my master settings are tweaked for that sim, not DCS.  If you fly 3 sims, having only the master settings available, flawlessly, isn't acceptable.  I'll write this up in a bug report to Pimax, too.

Thanks for your insight.  Hopefully what I said is understandable.

Are you actually starting the game within that specific profile in pimaxplay?  Because if your not your getting the default settings.  And that explains that.

I did it both ways.  Another user said even with the game-specific settings and starting the sim with PimaxPlay, unless he changed a setting and reapplied it, the setting wouldn't work.  Starting the sim in PimaxPlay needs to ensure it's monitoring whether a game starts in a "standalone" mode, not through their processes.  While it might work well in some cases, such as DCS, other sims won't.  PimaxPlay needs a lot of work across the board.

Yeah, I was starting the game from pimax play and it would launch DCS like it should, just would not carry any of the settings over.
