I read on a forum that Turkie was considering buying the Ka-50-2 "Erdogan"..!? A tandem version of the Ka-50?

 

Any thruth to this?

IIRC yes, Russians especially for Turkey did two sit version, cos Turkey demanded this. But as we yet know Erdogan didn't win.

It is not a new design, the Ka-50-2 Erdogan was presented by Kamov in cooperation with IAI in 1997 as a contestant in a competition announced for new Turkish combat helicopter. Initially the AH-1 Super Cobra was chosen as a winner but due to some problems the A129 Mangusta got the contract. The performance of the Ka-52 and Ka-50-2 Erdogan (specially designed according to the requirements of the the turkish military) was greatly appreciated. The cost was one of the main factors that made it lose. As i recall even though it didn`t win there were some plans back then to buy several K-50-2s for some special tasks use, that the Super Cobra was unable to complete.

I haven`t seen recent news regarding Turkey`s purchase of Kamov helicopters. If that`s a new info you`ve got and the source is reliable than that will be great. :thumbup:
