mrclean816 Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 (edited) Autopilot wasn't hovering it was doing something else. So I said what the heck I'll just let the autopilot fly for a little while and see where it takes me. My autopilot decided it didn't want to hover. It wanted to take a little trip over the dam and then fly back to where I was and a bit higher. Then it decided it wanted to spin around. Nothing too fast. Either left or right didn't matter. Trim didn't wanna keep her steady. Didn't realize my autopilot comes with AI. you can see whats happening after i get to the ingress pointwthautopilot.trk Edited October 2, 2009 by mrclean816
mrclean816 Posted October 2, 2009 Author Posted October 2, 2009 I think I figured it out. I re-read all the stuff on autopilot. I think I had my route switch on instead of it at neutral. Didn't realize the autopilot can take you the whole way all by itself.
JG14_Smil Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 (edited) Hello, AP route mode can take you to the last waypoint (or the #6 waypoint, which is the maximum waypoints it can follow), thats it. You have to fly by hand from there, or just general 'hold a heading' AP or set the AIRFIELD button on the PVI-800 to use route mode AP to rtb. How the helo acts while in route mode depends on how the DT/DH switch (right side panel) is set. Use RCTL ENTER to see how your helo is trimmed. It will not hover if you don't trim properly. There s a 'sweet spot' that you will learn to set your trim to to hover (in no wind). Edited October 3, 2009 by JG14_Smil
