Batboy Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 Hey Rekoal, I also have a 6800 but I am really not happy with its performance on my system (P4, 3.4ghz, 1GB SDRAM). Care to give any pointers as to what settings you are using, what type of FPS you are getting in-game, and what is this rivatuner? I've posted my woes on this thread: http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=7436, but I can't seem to get a reply. Edit to say that the card is still using the factory default settings, so i don't think my poor performance is a card issue, just a matter of tweaking the settings - but I don't know where to start! Thanks
rekoal Posted April 9, 2005 Author Posted April 9, 2005 How To unlock Piplines On your 6800's standard or le hey dude, i had a hard time too at the start, but because im a kind man i will help you out: 1) download "RivaTuner" from: http://downloads.guru3d.com/downloadget.php?id=163&file=4&evp=3dd4bb8da7a55799f2d49e3dcfc0e6aa 2) install "rivaTuner" 3)then follow this guide! http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=841145 4) then go to your nvidia controls (right click Nvidia display--> Clock Frequency Settings) then i did: - manual overclocking, - performace 3d, -Detect Optimal Frequencies! and bingo!!! then made my own lomac profile 8AA 8Af 1024x1024 and 30FPS and higher! hope this helps rekoal, PS may be a good idea to make this a sticky!
S77th-konkussion Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 Do you mean to tell me that some pipelines are disabled by default? oh my god. [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
Batboy Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 Thanks a lot Rekoal. I will try it out ASAP but unfortunately Real Life is calling (infant baby crying and wife ready to kill me. . . . ) I'll let you know as soon as I get a chance. Quick question though - what did you mean by "made my own lomac profile 8AA 8Af" Thanks
rekoal Posted April 9, 2005 Author Posted April 9, 2005 you can make profiles for games: like lomac with good high settings with 8 Antialiasing and 8 antifiltering dont ask what they do, (make lines straighter). BUT because my good old game Raven Sheild wont run with these settings i make a profile for that and when each exe is run it changes to each one! rekoal
rekoal Posted April 9, 2005 Author Posted April 9, 2005 thanks to this im running 16 piplines now with 8AA 16Af with 25FPS at low level rekoal
Batboy Posted April 9, 2005 Posted April 9, 2005 It's a no-go for me Rekoal. I've got my 12 pipes and 5 VS and I couldn't enable anything else. Nothing else showed as disabled or HW masked, if I tried checking any one box, I crashed on restart. So it looks like I'm back to square one. Anywhere between 5-20 fps on a simple mission like F-15 scramble (few ground vehicles and not too many planes) is not cutting it. Oh yeah, that's with AA and AF off. Sad. . .. .
