wmar67 Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 I have recently suffered a fatal hard drive crash. At the time, I had my Black Shark simulation installed, so obviously I didn't get to deactivtate it. Can you tell me what you need to know in order to re-issue my activation? Thx
EtherealN Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 You should still have 7 activations left, unless you spent some before that, and these situations are exactly why each key is issues with 8 activations and 10 deactivations instead of 1 activation and 10 deactivations. If that was your last activation, you would have to contact ED directly with an explanation of your case and the issues you had that led you to losing your activations. wmar67 Posted November 2, 2009 Author Posted November 2, 2009 I do have more activations left, but I'd rather have them reinstated whilst I remember. As you say, if I use all my activations, I have to say why...I may not remember in the future Thinking about it, though....so what. What are the chances of me using 8 activations and still playing this game when that happens? Not very likely. thx
Jinef Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Well, I've managed it, I am down to 5 on black Shark and have completely run out of Lock On/ FC ones :( Mainly due to me stupidly forgetting to deactivate. But also because of some HDD crashes and virus problems etc. Not fun.
Shrike_UK Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Hi, i deactived my BS when i uninstalled it, and now i re-activated it again using the deactivation code combined with CD key as the instructions said, but now i only have 7 activations left from my original 8. During the next year im going to be re-installing my OS every month, does this mean i can no longer play BS because of that? for i will use up all my activations in 6 months despite deactivating it. ?
EtherealN Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 (edited) You have 7 activations left because you started with 8. If you still have 7, that means everything worked as intended. I don't see why you would want to reinstall your operating system every month though, but that is your decision. Works like this: 1) You purchase the product. Your serial number has 8 activations and 10 deactivations assigned to it. 2) You install and activate, you now have 7 activations and 10 deactivations left. 3) You deactivate and do whatever you wanted to do. You now have 7 activations and 9 deactivations. 4) You reinstall on your new machine, new OS or whatever, and reactivate. You now still have 7 activations and 9 deactivations. Shrike_UK Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 (edited) Hi thank you for the answer, however i dont understand why if i deactivated it that i should lose an activation? sureley theres no point in deactivating it if your just going to lose an activation anyway? Im asking because im not changing a hardware config, nothing has changed at all other than i formated the HD and Re-installed the very same OS i had before i deactivated it. edit: and do you think having a different windows activation code (i have to ring for a number to activate windows) each time i install windows might be part of the reason? The DVD i have windows on is for original OEM and i have changed the hardware sice i bought the pc, but not since owning BS. The reason why i re-install windows regularily is a bit long winded, i'll save you having to read all about it but im an IT Developer. Edited December 2, 2009 by Shrike_UK additional info
Panzertard Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 When you installed the game the first time you used 1 activasion. Thats the "Missing" one. When you deactivated and activated again you did not loose any more activations, just one deactivation. The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
Shrike_UK Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Aaaah thank you :) how can i be so dense , i can count really, just didnt realise you actually get 7 more activations :music_whistling: so that worked then, i didnt lose one after all!!! i'll be on my merrry way then *hic* lol thanks. 1
