jmichael15 Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Alright I've went through the weapons training videos but I am having a huge issue. I've learned to lock on targets for the ATGM, however, after I've acquired my target I'm unable to shoot! I get the "C" saying I'm clear for launch and follow all proceduces. I go to press my Joy 1 button but nothing happens.. I hold it.. still nothing. It fires my cannon when I have cannons selected and use it. Any insight on this? I've searched through the controls for maybe a missile launch button, but couldn't find anything. I'm so confused and it's annoying.. all I wanna do is blow something up! :helpsmilie:
Waldo_II Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 I had this same problem too. The function to fire your cannons and the function to release external weapons are different. (Cannons = Space, Vikhrs/Rockets/Bombs/Gunpods = RAlt+Space) For your joystick command, look in your controls for the function "Release Weapons" or something along those lines. You'll have to bind it to a different button than your cannons.
26-J39 Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Double check Weapon arm is on. Also laser is on... You should see distance to target in shkval. Range of target needs to be within 7.1km AFAIR, or vikhr wont fire unless u switch to manual firing mode.
EtherealN Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Waldo seems to be on the money there. You do not use the same key for cannon as you do for your wing payloads like ATGMs, rockets, bombs and pods. Vikhr deployment is like this: 1) Locate and lock target with Skhval (should get a "TA" to confirm that you are locked and tracking). 2) Verify your range - you won't get a launch authorization at too long ranges - 7km or so is where I usually limit myself. You can evade this through flipping the weapon panel to manual, but at too long range the missiles will end up losing guidance due to the laser shutting down to avoid overheat. 3) Maneuver the helicopter so that the pipper rests on top of the circle on the hud that identifies the location of the target. This should give you a "TA-NY" on the HUD. Take care to ensure that you are not sideslipping when releasing the weapon, since this can cause the missile to slip outside of the laser grid and thereby lose guidance. Preferably you want to either be in a hover or in forward flight. 4) Press and hold your weapon release button. I use button 2 on my stick. There is a configuration option somewhere in the settings files that allow you to launch missiles with the trigger, but I don't recall what it was off the top of my head. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
