Are there a key commands that I am just not seeing that can change the course and heading settings on the HSI like I can when I am really flying or is it not that detailed of an instrument? Seems it does have a CDI but no way to line it up properly except to fly the aircrtaft to the intended course radials. Nothing in the key settings is sticking out and nothing in the manuals is, either.

You cannot control the HSI in game.

It will only tell you your distance from the selected waypoint/ILS and your deviation from the pre-planned course.

You can control the HSI heading and course if you set the instrument to manual control.

Look at the extended manual, page 6-19, item 13.

13. “ЗПУ-ЗК РУЧН – АВТ” (DH/DTA source) switch.

This switch is used to select between automatic and manual desired heading

and desired track angle setting of the HSI. When in the default down position,

automatic “АВТ” mode is selected. When in automatic mode, the heading and

course pointers will be updated by the navigation system and automatically

change according to the current waypoint. When in the up position, manual

“РУЧН” mode is selected and the DH and DTA knob is used to adjust the

pointers. [LCTRL + H]

As stated above, in “АВТ" the system is updated by navigation system and it will not allow any changes. to change you have to set it to manual control.

You can download the extended manual from this link

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..

There is no way to do this in lock on unfortunately, as airports and waypoints are the only navaids present. No NDBs or VORs or anything like that.
