Squid Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 just installed BS (1.0) for the first time. A thing i noticed is that the difference between Medium and High scenery detail is about half the framerates ... from aprox 50 to 25 or sorts .... Apart from proving again how CPU related hungry flight sims are (rather than GPU) i wanted to ask if there are somehow any intermediate settings between those two settings (like some manual config edit or modman ?) . i7 880 | HD 7870 | 8 Gb DDR3 1600 | ECS P55H-A | OCZ Vertex 2 180 | Intel 330 180 | WD 500 AAKS | 2x WD 2T Green | Enermax Liberty 620 | CH Combatstick & Throttle | TrackIR 3 | HP ZR24W | Windows 7 x64
JG14_Smil Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 I believe it is in the graphics.cfg file. I'm sure someone with experience will chime in soon.
Speed_2 Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Well, personally, while this is not what you are asking for, I'd suggest setting the scenery to high but try setting the water detail to its lowest setting. A big problem with the DCS engine is that underneath the terrain everywhere is a water level, and, unfortunately, this invisible water level taxes your graphics, even though you cannot see it. I had a hard time believing it myself until I tried it. Hopefully the devs can find a way to fix this in a patch someday. arrogant, realism-obsessed Falcon 4 junkie
Panzertard Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Here's a suggested tweak by Viper; http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=760153&postcount=6 The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning

This though was an issue even with Lockon, strange that they still build the world the same way ... Water though possibly is something like a repetition of an array of fairly undemanding resources-wise patterns , shaping fast a wallpaper background to the whole world if you will ... which kinda makes sense . i7 880 | HD 7870 | 8 Gb DDR3 1600 | ECS P55H-A | OCZ Vertex 2 180 | Intel 330 180 | WD 500 AAKS | 2x WD 2T Green | Enermax Liberty 620 | CH Combatstick & Throttle | TrackIR 3 | HP ZR24W | Windows 7 x64
