TAIPAN_ Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 (edited) Hi All, Just wondering does it matter what direction you place units facing? Will they turn around to point at the enemy as the enemy approaches? Also AA guns like the ZU, can they rotate fully? or do they need to face the right direction? How do I make infantry move? I put them "on road" and gave them waypoints, and the rest of the vehicles move out but the infantry just sits there like dumbasses. Grimes Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Most vehicles will rotate their turrets to face the targets they are trying to kill. As far as I know the only vehicles you have to point in the right direction to let them fire are some of the rocket and howitzer artillery pieces. As for the infantry, try putting them in a different group from the mechanized vehicles. Assigning them to "road" puts them at the same spacing as vehicles and such when they are set to a road path. So it looks quite odd with the infantry running in a convoy formation. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. slug88 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Well, if the enemy is approaching from the vehicles' rear, most of them probably won't live long enough to turn around. So, vehicle facing does matter. Furthermore, as Grimes said, the vehicle will turn their turrets to engage the enemy targets, but they will not turn their hulls, so you'll have a very silly looking battle unless the units are set up to face in the right direction. Basically you should know that ground units in this game really don't have any sort of AI, except for rudimentary aiming and shooting at targets. Besides this, you have to script everything yourself. TAIPAN_ Posted December 31, 2009 Author Posted December 31, 2009 I found the problem with the infantry, Manpad is not a movable infantry and it was in the group. So now I have an infantry patrol with just AKS and RPGs which is fine. Cheers Pimax Crystal VR & Simpit User | Ryzen CPU & Nvidia RTX GPU | Some of my mods
