Prophet_169th Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 It seems to me that there are more reports of people without problems, as there are of people with. I have a Plextor external DVD burner, no problems. I have some cheapo internal CD burner, no problems. I had no issues with having to reactivate StarForce. I have also spen $$$ into a new system; AMD64 3500 939pin MSI Neo-2 Plat 6800gt 256MB 2x512MB RAM, forgot what speed but its correct for the system. Anyways, I have paid lots aside to lockon, just for lockon. No problems, and I am very pleased with the SU25T. It adds a new great element to the game, and the missions that can be made.
Guest ruggbutt Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 It seems to me that there are more reports of people without problems, as there are of people with. That's true, I believe I am/was in the smallest of minorities.
Prophet_169th Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 That's true, I believe I am/was in the smallest of minorities. The solution, would be to find out what singles out your machine. What do you do, that I dont. I mean, I have burners, and starforce, and no problems. So what makes there an issue on yours. Does starforce in fact, interfere with the operation of other drivers? ED should have lots of information on what Starforce actually does. It could be a BIOS revision problem, or a number of things. But in all honesty, you have always paid for a license to use software. In that license you are granted the permission to copy it to a CD for backup or such. I am sure the law only applies to situations in which the contract or EULA you agree to, doesnt cover CD copying. I havent read it, but I am sure that its in the FC EULA. And as people have said, they can copy the executable to a CD.
AWL_Spinner Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Looking forward to whatever UK region CD purchase option there is (RC Simulations, NaturalPoint, etc.) for Flaming Cliffs. Happy to support the product with my cash but as a neutral (more of an IL2 propellorhead) am prepared to wait in order not to have to deal with potential Starforce issues (as a happy Nero user and regular DVD-burner). Besides, on principal I won't have limited license stuff on my computer. A 5-install locked download or whatever it is sounds suspiciously like leasing software to me; owning should be owning and do what you please. I have the same objections to Apple's iTunes content (also 5 device locked, I think) and though I'm happy to pay to download from there I feel compelled to get rid of the protection immediately afterward. As this doesn't appear to be an option with Starforce I'll be waiting for the CD. Enjoying seeing all the positive feedback and screenshots on here in the meantime though, FC 1.1 looks like a great achievement! Cheers, Spinner
Guest ruggbutt Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 The good news is that there is no 5 installs locked issue. You contact ED and they fix you up w/new serial and installs.
Klopsik206 Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 To disable my DVD and CD drives so I cannot make backups of my stuff? The downloadable version is an executable. It doesn't run off of my drives. This is unacceptable ED. Thanks for warning ruggbutt. It just reinforce my notion not to buy SF protected software. Sorry ED...
