Chris CDN Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 (edited) Update: Easiest solution to this problem was a full format of my PC. Suggested Action: Pour l'amour de dieu, put a warning on the settings page warning not to overwrite blackshark.lua, it would have saved me 5-6 hours of my life. Bug description: Yesterday, while remapping some joystick functions, I accidentaly wrote over the original blackshark.lua file. The next time I started the game I would get the launcher.exe error. Like most of the other people here, I can launch a MP game but not the SP game. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, including the patch and still have the same result. I have even tried copying and pasting a copy of the blackshark.lua file I found on the forums, with no result. PC Configuration 1. AMD Phenom quad core 2.2Ghz 2. ASUS M3N78 PRO 3. 4GB 4. Geforce GTS 250 - Driver version 8.17.11.9562 5. Generic DVD/CDRW drive 6. DSL. 7. Logitech freedom 2.4 8. Fully up to date Windows 7 Home premium 9. DirectX version 11 AttachmentsDxDiag.txt Edited January 12, 2010 by Chris CDN Updated entry NSDQ

lp335 Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 yes that file did not look important at all and in addition this was the default directory to save custom controller setups so I thought is was a joystickprofile I made.... please tell me that full format is not the only solution
EtherealN Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 I don't see how a format should be required. If a reinstall fails my guess would be that the uninstaller simply failed to delete everything. If so, uninstall again, then manually delete any leftovers, reboot to clear out anything funky the OS might be doing, then reinstall. And no, definitely do not use Blackshark.lua for that purpose. That is a completely critical file that includes some very important logic without which the game cannot operate. Also, when doing edits, always take backups. If in doubt, take backups. If in doubt about whether you should be in doubt, take backups. Etc. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
JG11Preusse Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 full format of the pc is not the easiest solution, but the most stupid one :)
