Is anybody using ATI 5850 video card to play Black Shark? I've been NVIDIA fan for many years, and I think it is not time to switch to ATI.

To provide a totally pointless answer to your question: I'm using a GeForce 9600GT, and not currently playing LO. :P

Could you, for my sake, explain your second sentence, though? I can't seem to make complete sense of it somehow.

Eyefinity is one of the reason to go for ATI at this time. Also, DX11 makes it little more future proof then NVIDIA at this time. Of course we don't need DX11 for Flaming Cliffs. But it may be useful for some other games and software out there.

What card you have haj? remember LOMAC is not VID card deendent unless you want it for other software.
I am currently playing it on my Acer laptop, core 2 duo on 2.1 GHz, 4GB RAM . On-board video is NVIDIA GT-130M.

In my view, ATI has that Eyefinity, that is very attractive option for me. Who knows, one day, I may have multiple monitors setup ....

At this time I am buying parts for my new rig. Here are the parts I've purchased so far:

2 x OZC Vertex 30GB SSD's (will be in RAID 0 for OS and Flaming Cliffs)

ETASIS ET750, true 750W Power Supply

Intel i7 processor 920 (1366 socket) Bloomfield

I know Flaming Cliffs does not need powerful video card. But this computer will be used for more then just playing Flaming Cliffs.

How long have you been building that? and how much longer do you have to go? I'm asking because, if you have been saving money for some time. It may have been best to save the money up until you had enough to buy everything at the same time. Waiting to long, new stuff comes out every few months and sometimes prices drop.
I started buying for Christmas. I understand your point about saving money and buying everything at once. What I do, I wait for good deals on newegg (shell shocker) and that save me some money. I am busy with my work and February and March I wont be able to play much if any. Thus buying all at once I would build a rig that would be sitting doing nothing for two months. Buying one by one, I save money and build a rig when I have time to play.

Beside, in this economical times, I just can not risk to spend much money at once, even if I have it saved. Official unemployment in USA is about 10%. Methodology used to calculate this number exclude a lots of people out of work. So real unemployment is much higher. Just yesterday, I got a call from my friend who was laid off about a year ago and still can not find a job.

I got a family of four with a kid on a college .... I will be buying parts form my new rig, one by one ...
