I've had this bug for quite a while, and it's VERY annoying.

After respawning back to a chopper in a multiplayer game, or watching a missile in external views, upon returning to the cockpit view DCS sometimes no longer responds to key commands. I can move my head around with track IR, I can move the joystick and watch the stick move in game, look out my cockpit and see action going on, I can even click on switches in the cockpit, but key commands no longer work, including keystrokes activated by buttons on my X52. I have to use control-alt-delete to close the game.

Sometimes, unplugging my keyboard and plugging it back in restores the ability to enter keystrokes, but sometimes not.

HELP! THIS IS INCREDIBLY ANNOYING WHILE HOSTING GAMES!

About the only thing that is relavent in this case might be the DXDIAG, whatever that is. The game doesn't crash. It doesn't say it generated an error. This problem will not show up in a track. I will check out DXDIAG tomorrow, but if that is related to directX, it's probably worthless in analyzing this problem as well.

Is it?

Here I thought DirectInput, which handles mouse and keyboard, was part of DirectX... ;)

A DxDiag is always useful - it will give us a overview over your configuration.

However I have a sneaking suspicion the problem you are seeing is either one of two things;

- I think I've registered the problem a few times during multiplay - it happens if you use the chat AFAIK, hard to reproduce on command.

But - you should be able to clear the problem if you press CTRL a few times (I think the DirectInput never registered the keypress or something, so DCS thinks CTRL is stuck or something similar).

Not sure if this problem is a odd combination of keyboard, Joystick software + DCS DirectInput mechanisms.

- If that doesn't help, it may be somewhat similar to what Ethereal experienced with some of the keyboard / media buttons he was using.

Maybe you remember what the cause was, Ethereal?

I never managed to pinpoint the issue precisely, but it was interesting that I sometimes fixed it through using the media buttons (the standard play/pause etcetera).

I have not experienced it again after switching to my Razer keyboard, though.

Nothing suspicious with your Dxdiag there.

So the next time it happens - try tapping the LCtrl, LAlt, LShift a few times to see if you can get the keys "unstuck".

As an update, this problem happened TWICE yesterday in a multiplayer flight I was hosting. The first time, I was able to fix it quickly by unplugging and replugging in my keyboard. The second time, after 20 minutes of unplugging and replugging in the keyboard, tapping random keys all over the keyboard, I was about to give up. I also minimized and remaximized about a dozen times, still nothing. As a last resort, I started beating on the left alt, control, and shift keys (which I had already pressed a few times). All of a sudden it started working again, and black shark was recognizing keyboard inputs.

I get the same thing every so often. I just do as Panzertard says and it works just fine. it acts like their is a sticky key. If you have a key stroke on a slider or a banded rotery and leav it in the on position when loading the game I get it almost every time.

Still happening, and still no idea how to make it start working again. I'm beating on every key on the keyboard right now, I have unplugged the keyboard and every USB device except my track IR like 12 times, and am desperately trying to avoid having to restart my game, which is the server ATM.

I accidentally hit the sleep button on the keyboard, computer went to sleep, when I got it back from sleep I could finally use keys, but then my track IR had stopped working, and there was no way to make DCS re-recognize it.

Ok, I THINK I HAVE FIGURED THIS ONE OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I use the middle mouse button for Teamspeak transmit. If I am transmitting while getting a new helo or watching a missile explode, then a large percentage of the time I lock up. I have not locked up a single time when I was not transmitting since I began to notice the correlation.
