rattler Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Has anyone got problems with xp with this card. I just installed one. Works great till you use pinkie key and then you get a continues clicking sound. other wise it works perfect in all other uses, ie: internet, etc. I also find the sound quality much better than Creative. Now if I could just solve this clicking problem with lockon I would be a happy flyer.:(
Silent Warrior Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 No help from me, but have you tried asking at ASUS' forum? It could also be a driver-bug - looks like it to me, but I'm a mere music student. You'll probably need to give more complete specs at some point - emphasising soundcard and driver version, application/game/softw4re :P involved, what stick this pinky switch sits on. (I question the relevance of the remaining components, but electrophysics is not my field.) (Oh, and if you decide your Xonar is bust, I wouldn't mind buying it off you. :D )
rattler Posted February 7, 2010 Author Posted February 7, 2010 Nice card overall. Now I just get crash to desktop. Driver for xonar is 5.12.8.1768, controller is saitek x52 with rudder pedals, hdd is 500mb,4gb ddr2,video card is asus 9600gt oc,core 2 duo 3.0ghz ,bios v 8.00.10,monitor is lg flatron wide set at 1280x1024 60mhz. Usual stuff after that.:(
Silent Warrior Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 And this clicking started only after you put the Xonar in, is that so? (Note also that the BIOS-version doesn't tell anyone anything much without specifying what motherboard it's used on.) I know I have very conservative views on overclocking - I ain't doin' it, why should other people? :) - so I'll just leave that alone. But you might be better off looking through ASUS forums, if you haven't already. As for the pinky-switch, you might as well play it safe and make absolutely sure it returns to its home-position after you use it. I don't know the X52 - I have an X45 - but my pinky-switch hasn't gone all the way in or all the way back out once or twice (probably dirt, but...). A stuck button would go a long way to explain this phenomenon, no?
rattler Posted February 9, 2010 Author Posted February 9, 2010 (edited) It is ok now. using only .ogg sound files and it works fine. I don't think it liked .wav files but that is a guess and for now I will not try and find out. If it works, don't try to fix. Mb is Asus p5k series and bios is up to date. Thanks for the input. Even though I had a slight problem, I would recommend the asus sound cards DS or Dx series in pci or pci-e. Very nice sound. Much better than creative series cards.Cheers. I don't OC either. Card came OC from factory (Nvidia). Edited February 9, 2010 by rattler
