Downey Jr. Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 and yeah... I can see how this was state of the art back in the day...hell it looks great now still. I can't really tell if the flight models are incredible or not realistic. overall realism wise I can't really tell either how good it is exactly from the short time I played. The main thing is that no aircraft is truly modeled in detail which takes away alot everytime you fly...I mean there's no clickable cockpit it seems? still after flying allied force and blackshark any sim looks like cake ;p so I had some fun flying around killing stuff. that's really about it...not sure if I would get this or flaming cliffs 2 yet...still got alot to learn with blackshark. once my track ir 5 comes next week I'm back on Blackshark and hopefully do some multiplayer.
zakobi Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 IMO you should wait for when FC2 comes out, as you can play online with DCS with it.
Brit_Radar_Dude Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 The main thing is that no aircraft is truly modeled in detail which takes away alot everytime you fly...I mean there's no clickable cockpit it seems? My understanding is that rather than produce a super detailed single aircraft Sim and basically copy Micropose's Falcon 4 approach, the Devs made a decision to model a bunch of different flyables for vanilla Lockon (7 aircraft - Su-27, Su-33, F-15, MiG-29S, A-10, Su-25, MiG-29A and within that the MiG-29A was either Russian with a Metric cockpit or West German with an Imperial cockpit, so its really 8 different aircraft). Payware addon Flaming Cliffs added yet another jet, the SU-25T. When they decided to do Blackshark, they changed back to the single airframe study Sim style - full clickable cockpit, etc. so I had some fun flying around killing stuff. that's really about it...not sure if I would get this or flaming cliffs 2 yet...still got alot to learn with blackshark. Well you can pick up the vanilla Lockon on E-bay in the US or UK for next to nothing, so why not? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....
Downey Jr. Posted March 8, 2010 Author Posted March 8, 2010 honestly there are so many good upcoming sims coming and great ones that are out already including BS that I wouldn't really want to spend any time on something that a) was released a long time ago b) realism is up to snuff (probably was great back in the day) c) time to move forward...hell I'm even off Falcon now I just play BS or FSX (I still think it's a great lil sim for the civilian enthusiast in you) Would I buy FC 2.0? you know I think it's great lock on simmers can fly with BS simmers...and I will definitely be in the Blackshark flying alongside next to ya ;) looking forward to Battle of Britain though and A-10 from ED
thaFunkster Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Well, if you want a detailed aircraft study and realistc flight model, then the SU-25T in Flaming Cliffs is pretty damn good. I personally hate the thing because it is such a pain in the ar*e to fly, it's always wobbling about, yawing and flipping out if you are not gentle with it.... But if you are interested in fast jet combat, and Multi-player especially, there is really nothing else out there, especially nothing *semi* recent that still looks good. Funk on YouTube!
