digital_steve Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Is there any way to limit what forums get shown when you hit the 'new posts' link? I'd like to ignore all the posts and forum sections that aren't in English... not because i don't love each and every one of you, because i do* (let's hug!), but it'd be handy not having to scroll through posts with backwards R's in it (that's all russian is right?) and frenchy bits. So, is this possible? * - actually i don't, especially the french... i ignore you just like the UN does ;) AMD Phenom II 965 BE @ 3.8GHz, 8GB OCZ AMD BE RAM, ATI HD5970 2GB XFX BE @ 875/1215, TM HOTAS Cougar, TM Cougar MFDs, TrackIR 5, CH MFP, GoFlight Switch Panel, iMo Mini-Monster Touch, Mimo 720S, Saitek Pro Flight Headset
topdog Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 My recollection of vbulletin code is that the New Posts is just a shortcut to a predefined Search criteria. So you can define your own Search criteria that uses a forum subset, focused on new posts (in the date options), and then save it. It's not exactly the same since it wouldn't change the behaviour of the New Posts button itself but it's a close 2nd. topdog Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Actually that didn't work as well as I'd hoped heh. But try this:- http://forums.eagle.ru/search.php?do=getnew&f=53 1 [ i7 2600k 4.6GHz :: 16GB Mushkin Blackline LV :: EVGA GTX 1080ti 11GB ] [ TM Warthog / Saitek Rudder :: Oculus Rift :: Obutto cockpit :: Acer HN274H 27" 120Hz :: 3D Vision Ready ]

AlphaOneSix Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 What you do is go to every forum that you don't want to see, and write down it's forum id (which will show up in the address bar as "f=blah"), then exclude all of those id's in your search. Here is the link I currently use: http://forums.eagle.ru/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=24,25,26,27,28,30,31,35,37,43,44,45,49,50,52,54,64,74,81,84,33,36,39,40,41,42,95,98,99
topdog Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Interesting, but requires maintenance any time a new non-English forum is added. Using the parent forum value alone should pull up all sub forums within it too, so you can do it inclusive for 'this forum and all sub forums' (as per my example) or exclusive for 'not this forum' (the style you presented). Presumably you can mix and match both styles even; if you want to trim further, but I've not needed to - yet.
