Skkuda Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Hi all! Can someone explain a little bit more this interesting sentence in the new FC2 Website? A virtual Forward Observer model is used to perform corrections for medium to high altitude winds based on impact point analysis.Skkuda [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic56197_1.gif[/sIGPIC] AMD Phenom IIx4 955 Black Edition@3.2Ghz Asus M4A785TD-M EVO 6Ghz DDR3 1033 NVidia Geforce GTX 570 hd1280 Mb GDDR5
EvilBivol-1 Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 The game engine has three altitude bands for winds that can be set in the mission editor - sea level, 2,000 m., and 8,000 m. When "aiming," the virtual FO calculates impact point using the sea level wind data, since that is probably closest to his actual altitude. It does not take the 2,000 and 8,000 level wind data into account as it cannot know the actual conditions at those altitudes. However, once the rounds begin to impact, it will account for drift at altitudes and make adjustments to the aim. This is already implemented in Black Shark. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy.
