We are certainly listening and aware of your problem, but at this time we have no idea what may be causing it. Until we do, it will be very difficult to resolve.

Thanks Wags.

If theres any further information I can provide just let me know.

I posted some screens and my dxdiag report over in the FC 2.0 bugs thread.

In my case, the ground textures thing of low res mixing with high res got fixed ( i think ) by some entry amongst those in this tweak : http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=865286&postcount=86 I am now invtestigating which entry was that ......

If you look in /Config/graphics.cfg for

OldLandNoise
{
 perSquare = 5;
 perSquare2 = 150;
 front = 1000;
 back = 10000;
 top = 2500;
 map_high = 20000;
 bottom = 2000;
 noisemax = 0.5;
 noisemin = 0.1;
}

and change it to

OldLandNoise
{
 perSquare = 5;
 perSquare2 = 150;
 front = 1000;
 back = 30000;
 top = 2500;
 map_high = 20000;
 bottom = 2000;
 noisemax = 0.5;
 noisemin = 0.1;
}

Does it help?

It was like this for me too, please let me know if it helps

Yoda this seems to have helped me.

Im still not sure if im getting the full show with all the goodies, but it seems to have made a big difference.

I made this change in the .cfg, along with some changes in my CCC, and the combination of the two seems to be getting results.

Wish I would have tried it sooner lol, but I usually hesitate to go in and start meddling with stuff like that.

THANK YOU!!!!

Still though im not sure if its displaying correctly, ive been obsessing over it for too long now, and I cant be sure of what im seeing anymore. lol.

heres a screenie of how it looks now. It looks better, but im still not sure if completely right.........???

Hey Deadsmell have you by chance checked your system ram?

Are you running virtual or how much do you have?

Also have you tried another Video card?

@ Mastiff, Ram seems fine, i checked the performance through the task manager, and running the game uses alot of ram, almost all of it lol, i think last time i checked the game was using around 1.7 or so gigs of the 2 gigs I have installed.

I dont have any virtual ram that im aware of.

Of course: What I DONT know about computers, could probably fill a library of books. :)

I have an older GPU in the closet somewhere, I thought about maybe giving it a try, but I have not tried it yet.

I think at least for a day or so, I just want to play lol.

I'm fairly new to the flight sim stuff so can anyone give me advise me on the best video control settings for Flaming Cliffs 2 please? I'm using Intel core2 duo, Windows 7 with GeForce 9800GT.

Well I can tell ya; your system is using allot of it and you could be running a little low for the system to to load properly. try the other video card first, then I would suggest more than 4gb of ram for a vista64 or win7 64 bit OS.Virtual ram is used when you set it up in the system properties advanced and you will see at the first sentance virtual memory. It sets aside some MB for use from your hard drive as ram.

Mastiff,

To answer your question -I'm running nVidia Quadro FX3700. I think I mentioned it in my post and am experiencing the same thing as discussed here by guys running ATI. The BACK settings set to 30000 helped a bit - now I've got cripsier texture little bit further from my plane but vast majority of textures around and further away (and mountains) are still blurry and coarse.
