F15 Fuel external tank reading

What is the best way to know when to drop the external fuel tanks in the Eagle when you have 3 of them? the fuel gauge shows the "left" and "right" and then "total" amount of fuel.

 

If I take 3 external tanks online I want to know when to drop them when they have run out so I do not have drag? should I simply drop them when the 2 external tank fuel gauges read empty?

Once the gauge for left and right are dropping/counting from some 6100lb down, which means that the drop tanks are empty. That happens at around 12000lb (left+right). With 100% and 3 tanks the gauge reads iirc about 23000lb.

But that doesn't actually matter, i.e. when you have only 1 drop tank/2 tanks, since you always know that they're empty, once you hit 12000lb (6100lb left and right each).

I think the Eagle's fuel load is 13347 internal, or something around there. You can look it up in the mission editor. Once you reach that, drop the tanks.
