theGozr Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 In FC1 i had 6 or 7 installs with different mods like the mirages etc.. So before i start to tweak.. i try to copy paste my folder to an other location in my pc but no start.. Did someone try?.. Fly it like you stole it..
EtherealN Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 What do your shortcuts look like? I did have two installs of DCS:BS on the same machine, same partition and same OS for a bit to test something, and that worked, but the shortcuts have to be right. I expect FC2 to act similarly in that circumstance. Robin_Hood Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 (edited) Yeah, I noticed the shortcuts have some additional commands on them. Is that what you're talking about, EtherealN ? I will give it a try EDIT : I gave a look, the most important thing, I think, is to have the "Start in" box right ;) (ie main game folder, not bin\etc...), or it won't find files Edited April 15, 2010 by Robin_Hood 2nd French Fighter Squadron
theGozr Posted April 15, 2010 Author Posted April 15, 2010 Will look too ;) Thx Fly it like you stole it..
EtherealN Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Yeah, if launcher.exe is located in: C:\Games\LOFC2b\bin\stable\ shortcut needs to be C:\Games\LOFC2b\bin\stable\launcher.exe --console "run in" needs to be C:\Games\LOFC2b\ (This is to get folder parsing right. For multiplayer, make sure to check the contents of multiplayer.bat and edit according to your new copy. Personally I recommend just doing a second regular install to a new location, not copy-paste.) theGozr Posted April 15, 2010 Author Posted April 15, 2010 I recommend just doing a second regular install to a new location, not copy-paste. No new activation requier? Fly it like you stole it..
theGozr Posted April 16, 2010 Author Posted April 16, 2010 @ EtherealN Worked perfectly no need to fiddle with anything for the install and start FC 2.0(2).. Thanks Fly it like you stole it..
Xjikz Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 I'm adding a question as I think there's something common with my question: Can we make two shortcut with different display settings : I mean a shortcut with 1280*1024 windowed And another shortcut 1920*1080 fullscreen ? I think it's possible if I install the game twice, but it would be easier to have two different shortcuts on the desktop. Proud to be a [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] :joystick::pilotfly::book:
theGozr Posted April 16, 2010 Author Posted April 16, 2010 Well yes .. You second install will ask you if you want a shortcut. Than your second install of FC2.0 will use what ever setting you want. And since it is in the same PC it will not ask for an activation but be sure to change the destination 's name. 1] Eagle Dynamics\LockOn Flaming CLiff 2 2] Eagle Dynamics\LockOn Flaming CLiff 2xx (install2) Fly it like you stole it..
EtherealN Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 I think you could do that with a properly written bat file and thereby not need separate installs, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it unless you feel comfortable with creating bat files that will be able to edit your install. Basically, you would ensure that you have two versions of the options file, and the first step of the bat file would be to make a copy of (say) "options_windowed.cfg" that is called the regular options.cfg. The other bat file for fullscreen would do the same, except it would make an appropriately named copy of one you've called "options_fullscreen.cfg". Obviously, although the syntax used for bat files is fairly simple, it is possible to break things, so be careful.
