Joint Air-To-Ground Missile JAGM

A very interesting missile system - Lockheed Martin’s Joint Air-To-Ground Missile (JAGM). It will replace Hellfire missile and can be mounted on helicopters, UAVs and multirole fighters like the F/A-18E/F. On may 5th 2010 the missile system completed series of wind tunnel tests and later this year will be flight tested with F/A-18 E/F.

Yes but I think only in some tasks. I don`t see how this missile can replace the maverick versions with the big warhead (over 100kg). I guess they still will be used for heavily protected targets.

My thoughts exactly. Even the small Maverick head weighs in at 57 Kg, which makes the JAGM seem puny. Also, a lot of Maverick-capable platforms are missing from the document, but that might not indicate anything.

 

Edit: Wiki says it's supposed to replace the Mav only on the F-18.

Yes, probably they will be released at higher altitudes and at lower JAGM will come to play.

If so, they have some catching up to do, precision wise. I kinda wonder if you can achieve the standoff range without any gliding aids, though.

Since it will have MMW radar, they could make a triple launcher like the one for the British Brimstone.
