New to FC2 and mods

I just got the FC2 last week but wanted to know the best place to learn all about mods. For starters, simple stuff like skins so I can make my A10 or F15 look different. And another question. If I skin my plane and play via LAN or internet, will my opponent or wingman see the results or will he too have to add the skin? And finally, where do you get all of the skins for FC2 (or the best ones) and how do you install them?

For general mod usage I would recommend getting the Modman application. http://www.checksix-fr.com/news/index.php?page=detail&ID=7420

 

You can find many skins and models for use through that application at lockonfiles.com.

 

Unfortunately, other people will not see your mods unless they also install them.

Thanks for the info...looks like lots of stuff for FC 1.1 (which I don't have). I started with FC2 as I thought I read it replaced 1.1 but maybe it said FC2 replaced LockOn?

p.s. Is FC 1.1 something to get or just move ahead with the Black Shark?

The release history is:

1) LOMAC Lock On Modern Air Combat

 

2) Lock On Flaming Cliffs (Add On for LOMAC) Latest Patch 1.12

 

3) DCS: Black Shark, Latest Patch 1.0.2

 

4) Lock On Flaming Cliffs 2 (New Version of LO Flaming Cliffs) Latest Patch 1.2.1. You need LOMAC as a minimum to install LOFC 2.

 

Many mods that work with LOFC 1.12 work with LOFC 2. Just try them with the excellent Modman.

 

LOFC 2 is a survey sim with Jets, Black Shark is a study sim of the Ka-50 and is highly detailed. Two different types of sims. Both, however, work together in multiplayer.

Thanks for the info. I will try some of the FC v1.x skins as I don't see too much for the FC v2.x yet. Then I will get a good set of controllers and after that get Black Shark. :thumbup:
