Hi all, Just a quick question. As far as simpits go, I know it is possible to build working buttons and switches, but, is it possible to have guages that indicate correctly. By that, I mean, not computer screen, an actual physical needle moving in a guage. Also, what about MFD's? Is it possible to have A digital screen the size of an MFD Showing exactly what is on the mfd, with physical buttons around the MFD. Almost like you just took an MFD out of the plane and plugged it in? Replies with explanation would be nice.

Thanks in advance, Civil Air Patrol TSgt. snowman out.

Yes you can have all of that with DCS and a lot of elbow grease, the right tools, skills and money. Making physical gauges is not for the faint of heart and will require some precise tools and skill.

I would recommend that you pick up Mike Powells books for a start (http://www.mikesflightdeck.com). Take a read through this forum as well as there are examples of each one of the things you ask.

hey bro you may want to ck out saitek pro flight gear they have a nice instrument panel setup(fsx) http://www.saitek.com as far was working mfd's you can get yourself two small 4-6 inch screens(mini monitors) and a set of TM cougar MFD's (http://www.thrustmaster.com) and your all set. BTW i think most of the full blown simpits don't work well in muitiplayer there are flies that you use that others don't. there are a handful of guys that can give you more intel on how ,why and where..lots of luck..5x5

Just as a heads up it requires an 8" LCD to fill the inside of the TM MFDs. Also most of that saitek gear only works with FSX so you would have a hard time getting it to work with Lock On or DCS.

Cool, i'll have to look into that later. Money is very tight right now. Still figuring out how to get DCS A-10c. I'll find a way to do that tho.....

i can further clarify on that. Saitek gauges DO NOT work. Also - its a gauge thats drawn on a monitor - which as far as i understand is not what you want. You want accurate steam gauges. There are companies out there that do make steam gauges - simkits being on of them. But again - getting these to work with lockon or DCS is nearly impossable. For FSX though - plug and play.

There are other options - a monitor with LOVP or BSVP would also work - this is my solution. (see my simpit build in my sig)

I also use the Thrustmaster MFD's on my on my main panel, these are easy to customise and work out of the box with lockon and DCS.

Gadroc is right on showing you the link to mikesflightdeck - this is an astounding book and will teach you a lot about everything you need to know.
