about 2 to 3 years ago I asked for a new rig. They know I am a Flight simmer all the way,but they buy (shame on them) A media computer! (a rig mainly design for pictures and music and such) I need a simming rig capable of running dcs BS and soon DCS a-10 with settings somewhere around 2/3 or full.

Money is very tight, so Anything over 1000$ is unnaceptable. any help appreciated. Thanks!

Let me start by saying that no one knows the recommended system requirements for DCS A-10C. I typically use the beta testers rigs as a benchmark to have a vauge idea of what to expect; however here is my recommendation that wouldn't break the bank.

My recommendation:

CPU:AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Thuban 2.8GHz

Motherboard: MSI 785GT-E63 AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 785G HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

Graphics Card: ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU TOP/2DI/768MD5 GeForce GTX 460

Memory: Kingston HyperX T1 Series 4GB (2 x 2GB)

OS: Windows 7 x64

You can use your imagaination on the optical drive, the case, the power supply (you shouldn't need anything above 700 watts for the above) and the HDD. And I didn't list a sound card because you can pretty much get away with an onboard sound card nowadays.

P.S.

I believe it is against the forum rules to request help in exchange for rep.

I'm really not in the mood to build a pc. But im up for it if you cant find any just as good or cheaper. Where do I keep hearing about you can choose all that stuff like graphics card and everything and they'll build it for you. Wasn't it hp? Is that any good?

I personally approve of that article, though for simming you'll probably want to look at beefing the CPU's a bit since they're more mainstream in their suggestions.

To be honest you are better off building your own rig. It is not difficult; I repeat it is not difficult. But you would save a lot more money building your own rig, a lot of vendors use proprietary parts in builds so you kind of limit yourself in respect to futureproofing yourself.

Agreed with Evontroy. Translating roughly from my currency (difficult with different tax levels but...) you can save at least around ~100-150 dollars on building it yourself. Also, it allows you to know exactly what you have, making upgrades easier. The one obstacle is OS license, which can cut into the savings since companies like Dell and HP get bulk discounts - but you can cut into that through purchasing an OEM license. (Half-price, but you cannot transfer to a new computer.)

QFT. That way you avoid PSUs, OEM boards with less features or prolly a plethora of other problems which might come up regarding future upgrades.

I'm sorry but I can't recommend that build. He would want atleast an AM3 or LGA 1156, 1366 motherboard and compatible CPU. If he followed that build to the tee he would have to upgrade again relatively soon.

It looks like DCS A-10C will be DX11 compliant so I would also recommend a DX11 GPU.

Also, Dx11 GPU's do not have to be expensive. AMD (ATi) especially are good at lower-cost offerings there. (And I am an nVidia fanboy in great pain due to that. :P )
