RIPTIDE Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 He will be dodging and soon be dead, trying a return shot in this situation will end up with his suicide. There is still time for the return shot and to get away. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
foxwxl Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 (edited) The flanker should always climb high and shot first. But if you met a experienced F-15 pilot , he can fired AIM120C at the same time. If your missile warning did not scare him away , then you are in trouble. AIM-120C with data-link guidance is very deadly. ER is faster than 120C, but not much in FC2. ER can fly at 4000 and 120C at 3600 (both in high altitude) ER SHOULD reach the target first ,but EAGLE can flee away before the 120C hit and the Flanker can't....Eagle can easily do a 3-9line and break the lock then safely get away while the 120C still tracking on you. I'm pretty sure an AIM-120C in FC2 launch at 8000m at 57KM away can make a kill even you do the snake maneuver..... Do not regard 120C as a short range missile like FC1 anymore.... GGTharos Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Nothing is stopping you from turning away in the flanker when you see the F-15 pilot do the same thing. End result, no one hits their target, both aircraft (assuming agressive pilots) turn back into each other and re-attack. There's no reason for you to hold lock once the F-15 starts to turn away. You won't hit anyway in that case, so save yourself. The flanker should always climb high and shot first. But if you met a experienced F-15 pilot , he can fired AIM120C at the same time. Sov13t Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Problem is when you fire missile and you loose lock due to poor radar or his movements (often TWS lock lost in F-15 even due to slight bugged target moves...). You loose missile and time. He is closer and can fire active. I think this is due to poor network code/latency/server load/client performance. I have noticed such events when targets jitter/jump when launched on (I am assuming this is when they hear the launch warning), but maintain head on aspect... you lose lock, your missile (if it is SARH) and anywhere between 3-8 seconds it takes to reacquire the target. Which usually equates to about ~10km closure. Hope the network code continues to improve... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 51st PVO Regiment | Forum | Statistics DCS: MiG-21Bis
foxwxl Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Yeah~ But the flanker pilot is aways seeking the aggressive situation ~ Deka Ironwork Tester Team
GGTharos Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 The flanker pilot has to play his cards smarter. With two pilots of equal skill, when it comes to missile exchange beyond some 15km, the F-15 should win /most/ of the time. But, pilot skill/planning is not always equal :) Yeah~ But the flanker pilot is aways seeking the aggressive situation ~ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Aliboy Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Hi why is foxwl calling the FC1 Aim-120 short ranged I maybe off-topic here but how come none of you guys talk about those 100-70km kills people use to get all the time with the Aim-120 in FC1 does that still happen in FC2...the longest range ER kill I got was at 74km in FC1 now also the range of the ER seems similar in FC2 where its most effective at 40-15km. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
foxwxl Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 In FC1 ER can fly 4200km/h at high or 3800 at low. And 120C can only fly 3300 at high and 2800 at low. In FC2 ER speed is decreased to 4000 and 120C speed is increased to 3600, thus have a great difference Deka Ironwork Tester Team
mig29 Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 (edited) I tested the gimbal limits of SU-27 radar lock and found it out to be about +/- 80 degrees of the nose cone. Quite astonishing. So even though we cannot do the 3-9 missile evading line but at least we can do the 2 - 10 line. :D Edited September 1, 2010 by mig29
GGTharos Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 More like +/- 70, if it's more it's wrong :) Not that 70 is bad :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
GGTharos Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 The network code does need to be multi-threaded. It will happen at some point, but I don't think we will see such a solution for FC2.
