Exorcet Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 I'm not entirely sure if this in the right place, but I'm getting a new laptop and I want to make sure that it can run FC2 and DCS:Some Fighter I'm looking at multiple choices, but right now there's all around the performance of this one: Win7 64 bit 6GB DDR3 memory i5-520M Dual Core (2.40GHz) [some with i7 Quad Core] 1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 230M graphics card I'm pretty sure of the processor and memory, but I don't know anything about graphics cards. A few other cards from the other laptops: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 Awaiting: DCS F-15C Win 10 i5-9600KF 4.6 GHz 64 GB RAM RTX2080Ti 11GB -- Win 7 64 i5-6600K 3.6 GHz 32 GB RAM GTX970 4GB -- A-10C, F-5E, Su-27, F-15C, F-14B, F-16C missions in User Files
braden Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 it will play it, but screen resolution and your expectations will play a part. the asus g73jh laptop runs FC2, but its a pretty ordinary affair at 1920x1080 (15-20fps sitting on the tarmac when i loaded it up just now). i7-720 (2.8ghz), ati5870 vid, 8gb, win7x64 its wonderful for playing graphic orientated games at high details (bfbc2, mw2, dragon age etc)..but the slow processor lets it down for sims. are the i5 processors faster than the i7's, and/or does fc2 take advantage of i5 features?
Exorcet Posted September 18, 2010 Author Posted September 18, 2010 i7 should be faster as far as I know. Seems kind of odd that the above mentioned Asus only barely runs it. My old laptop, Dell D830 with 2GB mem and I don't what processors (I know they're at least 3 years old) would run FC2 fine as long as there weren't too many clouds, overcast, or too many units fighting. Awaiting: DCS F-15C Win 10 i5-9600KF 4.6 GHz 64 GB RAM RTX2080Ti 11GB -- Win 7 64 i5-6600K 3.6 GHz 32 GB RAM GTX970 4GB -- A-10C, F-5E, Su-27, F-15C, F-14B, F-16C missions in User Files
braden Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 it was a cloudy scenario, lights all lit on runway. but unless all setttings, screen res etc are posted - its all subjective. im sure if xp/win7x86 was on the g73, fc2 would run a damn side faster. win7x86 and xp32 whip win7x64 for fc2 on my gaming pc.
Exorcet Posted September 19, 2010 Author Posted September 19, 2010 Probably a silly question, but I should also ask if the Saitek X52 Pro works on Win7 64 bit. happyslayeruk Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I'm using the x52 pro on win7 64 and it works without a hitch. Asus P8Z68 V-Pro/Gen3, Intel i5 2500K @4.5, 8GB DDR3 1600, EVGA GTX 670 FTW Signature 2, Creative SB X-Fi Titanium Pro, Saitek X52 Pro, TrackIR 5.
Exorcet Posted September 19, 2010 Author Posted September 19, 2010 Alright, thanks guys. Looks like I'm all set. Awaiting: DCS F-15C Win 10 i5-9600KF 4.6 GHz 64 GB RAM RTX2080Ti 11GB -- Win 7 64 i5-6600K 3.6 GHz 32 GB RAM GTX970 4GB -- A-10C, F-5E, Su-27, F-15C, F-14B, F-16C missions in User Files
