nick_thain Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Gudday, Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, I searched the forum to no avil. Happy to be redirtected if necessary. I recently upgraded to LockOn FC2, and I've got to say it's a great upgrade, if only for the riddance of the StarForce woes of FC1. I have a quick question about a new option in FC2: 'Monitors'. First, here's the relevant specs of my rig: - 2 x 8800GTX (dual DVI for each), latest drivers - Win7 64 Ultimate - 3 x Samsung 24" widescreens I usually run the 3 monitors with 2 plugged into the first card and the third plugged into the second card. When I select the 'Monitors' option in FC2 and chose 3, the middle monitor is split into 3 portrait screens, ie my other LCD monitors are not used. My questions are: - is the 'Monitors' option for those running ATI 'Eyefinity' cards only? - if not, how do I get my 3 LCDs running with the 'Monitors' option in GC2? - if the 'Monitors' option IS only for Eyefinity, I guess I'm limited to SoftTH? Cheers, and thanks in advance for your help. Nick
PeterP Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 (edited) The DCS in-game option for monitors is only a pre-set of layouts for the simulation output. And it only relates to the overall resolution you use in the option menu. And you can also edit the appearance with a lua file. DCS don't enables a option to use your different cards for fullscreen Triplehead while in fullscreenmode! That is often mistaken -again- the monitor option is only for the layout of your screen(s) and it dont allows you to use more screens that are defined as a primary output in you windows graphiccard menu. You have to use eyefinity/nvidia-surround or a TH2GO or Softth if you want to use more monitors in fullscreenmode than you have outputs on your primary graphic adapter. Softth runs only by software with dll hooks and allows you to span your primary monitor device across different graphic-cards and mix even different reselutions of your screens.. So that you are able to use more monitor outputs than your primary card has onboard. Here an example (this is rendered in fullscreen mode and has much less hit on the FPS as the windowed mode and is not possible with eyefinity) : http://www.kegetys.net/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=16acb08b4c1f51035a7814237495ecbf&topic=2123.0 edit: And yes - you should run Softth or check if your cards can be driven by nvidia-surround. But with softth you would be able to use even four monitors in fullscreen -for example a additional tactical awareness display for shkval/abris together with the triple-head for the cockpit . Its up to you how you divide your screen-space with the monitors option and lua file (\...\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Config\MonitorSetup\). Edited September 27, 2010 by PeterP
