I have 3 questions about building my own cockpit

1. I have Bodner I/O cards. They work great for switches but when I switch the toggle it stays on, so in order to activate the switch I have to flip it up and then back down so the next time I activate it will turn off. Or do I have to have all momentary switches?

2. How do you get the toggle switch safety cover to work with the sim? Or are they actually not operational in some of the cockpits I see on the forum?

3. How do you get the game to output LED lights, like landing gear, caution lights, etc.?

ACPI x86 based PC, Windows 7 64Bit, AMD Phenom IIX4 965 3.4GHZ, NVIDIA GTX 560, 8 GB RAM, 1 32" primary monitor, Track IR, Saitek pedals, custom cyclic with CH Pro base, custom collective, both using BUO836X cards

1.) Send single keypress with Leo Bodnars I/O Cards:

Try dowmloading SVMapper software from here:

And notice the "repeat" setting next to "mapped key on press". If you set it to "1" it will only send the key command once. Then do the same for "mapped key on release", and you should be on your way..!

2.) Get the toggle switch safety cover to work with the sim

I'm working on that right now for my own Right Side Panel. Stop by my thread in a week or so..

Connecting LED's to Leo Bodnars Controller Cards:

For a way to connect LED's read Leo Bodnars own reply at Leo's forum:

http://www.leobodnar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4

"You need to use DPST switch which is in effect two independent switches in one housing: http://www.colehersee.com/04resource/dpst.htm

It might be easier to find DPDT (ON-ON) switch, and use only one side of the contacts: http://www.colehersee.com/04resource/dpdt.htm

Here is how to connect them to the BU0836 with an indicator LED.

To light up an LED you can use any +5V pin and any GND pin (e.g. from an unused analogue input set.)

Don't forget that normal LED needs a resistor to limit the current flowing through it. 330 Ohms is a good start but you can calculate exact value if you know LED voltage drop and required current.

Altogether you can power 20-30 LEDs from one BU0836 if it is attached directly to the PC or powered hub and about a dozen if it is attached to an unpowered hub.

Cheers

Leo

The SW I downloaded only recognizes 2 of my cards, I have 3 bodner cards hooked up. 2 of the cards are identicle, is that why it only sees 2?

check out what our own BadCrC writes on Leo¨s forum:

http://www.leobodnar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=294

and :

"On the page that you purchase the card I noticed (don't remember exactly where) that you can request the card you are purchasing to be named something else. I would suggest for future purchases to use this feature.

As for renaming the cards after purchasing them well lol I have no clue I just got my first BU0836 in the mail 2 days ago lol

EDIT: found it! even though I only have one chip for now I'm always going to use this option to be able to have a custom name just ensure I never run into the problems I've seen occurring on the forums here. When you name them, just name them after what kind of module your going to use them for or if you order in bulk just have them numbered x through x, just so your computer and yourself will know which is which..."

OOOOh i know the answer to this on - its a necro thread but ill dig it up again.

SVmapper only sees the version numbers on the BU0836 cards and does not always read the names of the cards. If you have 2 or more cards with generic names - it cannot define between the two and you will have a list in SVMapper which has 64 outputs in it. This is also the case with the simple BU0836 cards which are not supported in Vista.

Even worse is that it does not determine which card is which - so if you unplug them and put them back in the wrong order - all the numbers re reversed.

To get round this problem i use a program called Xpadder. This recognises each individual board and doesnt get the orders mixed up - plus it waaaaay better than SVmapper. Is does cost a few dollars (about 10) but its deffo worth it. it saved the day for me!
