Paolo_R Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 Edit post Report this post Reply with quote New to LOMAC by Paolo_R » Sun Oct 10, 2010 5:22 am I've decided to join the LOMAC community but I'm a bit confused about upgrade options. I've ordered the initial LO-MAC CD version as I understand installation of that is a prerequisite. I believe Flaming Cliffs 2 is the latest version of the complete sim. In order to upgrade to FC2 I know that I need the LO-MAC initial version installed. Do I have to also install the 'unofficial' first FC upgrade before the FC2 upgrade or can I install FC2 over LO-MAC? Also are there any other patches required after the FC2 install? Second question - I am running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Which version of the Flaming Cliffs upgrade(s) do I need - the CD version or the download version? Final question - there seems to be a somewhat complicated verification system required. Can someone briefly outline how this operates? TIA
SAM77 Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 You dont need the first FC 1.1 unofficial installed Just Lock On original Then FC2.0 I run Win 7 64 HP using CD version. As far as I know you can download for win 7 64 Verification is straight forward. All you need is internet connection and your product key. Only have to do it once unless you make a lot of major hardware changes to your PC. hope this helps a lil :) Spoiler Intel i7 14700F | 64GB G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB | MSI RTX 4060 Gaming X 8G | WD Black SN770 2TB | Sound Blaster Audigy RX | MSI B760 Tomahawk WIFI | Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS Flight Pack | TrackIR 5 | Windows 11 Home |
mig29 Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 Can anybody tell me, when does the FC2 installer check for the existence of LOMAC 1.0? And since the LOMAC 1.0 and FC2 are installed in entirely different directories, can I uninstall LOMAC 1.0 after installing FC2 or the FC2 checks for LOMAC 1.0 all the time?
Exorcet Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 I downloaded FC2 on to my Win7 Pro 64 machine. Requirements for FC2: LOMAC install, then FC2 install. Paolo_R Posted October 10, 2010 Author Posted October 10, 2010 Sam 77: thanks - so (a) Lo-MAC (b) FC 2 © FC 2 download, and I'm good to go.
Paolo_R Posted October 10, 2010 Author Posted October 10, 2010 Exorcet: thanks - that seems reasonably straight forward!
SAM77 Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 I forgot to add and i dont know if its necessary but when I posted similar questions to yours concerning install with Win 7 64bit. I was told to not install to the x86 program files folder. I didnt heed advice for my 1st install and after a couple of days my control setup was borked. I reinstalled outside of x86 program files and so far all good. You are good to go with the routine outlined in your post. Install directory is a possible issue. Dont use the default install directory is a possible tip if all doesnt go to plan with your game after a while like my 1st install did. Yes you can uninstall LOMAC once your FC2.0 is installed and authenticated. I havent done it with mine but if you do a search on forum you will find it is said officially. Paolo_R Posted October 11, 2010 Author Posted October 11, 2010 Sam77: yes, this seems to be a regular comment regarding Win 7,due to the security mechanisms the OS implements regarding the Program Files folders. I am using my D:\ drive for sims and haven't had any problems so far. Thanks.
