question about userfiles section on lock on website

i am a bit confused about the : userfiles section on the official lock on website.

when you click downloads under the userfile heading, it shows me all these things i can have, missions, sounds and mods. say i select LFC2 in the geme drop down menu , can i just download the ones i want as i please (i have lock on flaming cliffs 2 and its patch already installed) or are some dependant on others.

another question i have is on the "mod downloads" can these just be installed and then next time i load up lock on they will be automatically there. (i know these are nooby questions bare with) i assume that other people without these updatees can still play with players that have them, i.e my brother flys with me on lan missions i make, does he need each update i download to contine playing on lan with me?

If they have dependencies they'll say so. Most won't.

 

For mods, you'll want to install ModMan first;

Mods just overwrite the files from the game. ModMan lets you install the mods safely by making backups of the files it's replacing, and allowing you to uninstall the mod afterwards.

 

Alternatively, you can make a copy of your entire FC2 directory so you have a clean version, and then you can install all the mods you want. If it gets messed up, just blow it away and replace with a clean copy.

 

Some mods will conflict with others (if they try to update the same files); ModMan will let you know of this. It's worth taking the time to understand how to use ModMan for installing mods.
