SilentEagle Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 I have multiple models (structures) I built in game that cast shadows just fine, but one of them does not. I have not been able to figure out what causes 3d models to not cast shadows. Is there some setting in the max file that needs to be set?
luckybob9 Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 a .tga file with the opacity set to below 50% will not case a shadow I believe. SilentEagle Posted November 3, 2010 Author Posted November 3, 2010 Even the objects within the model (probably 300+ objects in the max file) that use bmp textures do not have shadows. I have two max files that define the objects at an airfield. One has many objects and they all cast shadows. The other file's objects do not cast shadows. It's strange, but I'd really like my objects to be consistent. Thanks for the help though. Hopefully someone might have an idea.
SilentEagle Posted November 5, 2010 Author Posted November 5, 2010 Ok, I fixed the issue by selecting all objects in the max file, choosing save all from the file menu to a new max file, opening up the newly saved max, and exporting a lom from this newly created max file. It's very strange, but my shadows have returned after using this method. I wonder what went wrong with the other file. Hmm. Now I just need to figure out self-shadowing structures!
