In the Mission Editor main screen I have found buttons for placement of ships, aircraft, vehicles and static objects but...where's the infantry?? Obviously I am ignoring something blindingly obvious but...where is the common foot soldier?? Apologies, but assistance much appreciated.

Bahger Posted November 6, 2010 Author Posted November 6, 2010 So there is no dismounted infantry? If I place a transport vehicle like a Ural. It will dismount a bunch of infantry that will deploy? How do they know when to mount/dismount?

Select Russia for example, go to vehicles section and look for Infantary AKS and Infantary RPG (IIRC), each one will give you a single soldier. Edited November 6, 2010 by ShalashakaDS
aceflier Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 (edited) Once you make your soldier on the map you can add others by hitting the unit 1 of 1 to 1 of 2 ect ect and then edit what type you want rpg/ak47 for example. You can simulate an apc carrying troops by using a trigger zone and trigger tree. Make a trigger zone say size 20 make apc waypoint 2 to stop in that zone and then make unit inside zone "selected apc" then activate group "your soldiers" with a start time of 00/00/01 then set your soldier to goto waypoint 2,3 ect ect. Could even simulate them getting picked up by another apc once you get the use of triggers sorted. I'm no expert on triggers but this is some of the easier things. Here is an example i made in about 2 minutes tested and this works pay attention to start times of troops and trigger zones and trigger list. APC will drive for aprox 4 minutes and drop off 4 ground troops then proceed to the edge of the airfield. This could be done with choppers dropping troops/tanks/apc's also. I had no idea that you couldn't deploy infantry by unit, as opposed to individual soldiers. I assumed that you would be able to place unit templates of squads, platoons, companies. I did not realise that you have to spawn the infantry in using trigger zones and conditions. I know now that I can make templates, but would have to know the OOB for it to be realistic. Thanks for your example file; I'm going to run it right now.
Grimes Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 They also show up as tanks in the F10 map view. This is because before the beta 2 patch they were literally tanks and impossible to kill. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.
