SgtPappy Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Anyone have any info on how FC2 will run with this card? I've got this in an ASUS K42F laptop, running on an i3 processor with 4 GB of RAM; OS: Win 7 (64 bit). Luckily, the card itself has 1696 MB all to itself. I can run IL-2 1946, Wings of Prey (on the lowest settings) and Aces High II with little problem unless >30 planes appear on the screen. I'm pretty confident in this chip but I just wanted to make sure it can support FC2, which I'll be picking up come Monday. Thanks!
kylania Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 The keyword there is "Media", that card is designed for watching movies basically. Seeing as Beta is already melting lower end cards to slag, you might want to wait for the release to play it on there or get a real gaming card/laptop. Pilotasso Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Speaking of gaming laptops: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/malibal-nine-x7200-geforce-gtx-480m-core-i7-980x,2773.html Not subtle but rather potent, I bet warthog will run on it :D .

The best INTEL graphics chipset is at the bottom of CLASS 3 (CLASS 1 is best). I bet you don't have even the best from the range. Even if you'd have one, it is still not enough to run any new flight simulator properly, sorry. It is there only to let you run HD movies. http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Graphics-Media-Accelerator-HD.23065.0.html 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
SgtPappy Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 Alright, thanks gentlemen. I will be sure to pick up a new graphics card before summer comes around... and probably a new power source to go along with it. Thanks!
EtherealN Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Upgrading grahics cards on latops is often nigh on impossible, since they're usually soldered in-place on the custom motherboard. If you need to be using a laptop for gaming, my personal recommendation would be the new ASUS ROG laptops. They'll cover you quite fine and is something I am currently considering to purchase if I can't manage to get one for free (which I am currently trying to achieve. :P ).
