TOMCATZ Posted November 27, 2010 Author Posted November 27, 2010 So, hello again. last night I had a small little "Glühwein"-session. After I got up this evening ( with a lot of pain in the head) I started to remake the textures for the S-300 launchers. I started to made it complete new - at sero. So I rendered the clear model by all sides within aspect arround 5 degrees. After that I paintet rivets and lines and gave them a little contrast. For a little 3D look I made a screenshoot and switched the colours from black to white and pasted it into the texture while I holded a little offset . At last I painted the texture dark/brown with some little small highlights and dirt arround the wheel area. The wraping for the new textures was a small work of course all the old uvv-coordinates were still on the shapes. I think, that the models look are okay now and the new textures works very well. I`m not pretty sure what I have to do now- more details or isit enough of course I break trough the 80k faces border now. However - Thanks for the very impressive links. (Allthough I`m a little bit confuse about why ED don`t use this great model for DCS) My best wishes, TOM PS: Klick on the white strip for a greater view please Born to fly but forced to work.
TOMCATZ Posted November 29, 2010 Author Posted November 29, 2010 Hello , think that could be a nice update for BS and FC of course DCS have new wonderfull models (made by Diana?) . Regards, TOM 1 Born to fly but forced to work.
infi Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Hi tom, nice models... but did you saw that? http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=38243&page=3
TOMCATZ Posted November 30, 2010 Author Posted November 30, 2010 Oh yes- that`s not a problem. My idea was to inplement my models basecally into BlackShark and FlamingCliffs of course there we have still the stock old models. Although it could be possible to push some into DCS but I`ll look for the final DCS A-10 module to see wich models are replaced. However: Thanks a lot for this link. That guys build very very fine models. I like it well . My best wishes, TOM Born to fly but forced to work.
john_X Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Hi tom, nice models... but did you saw that? http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=38243&page=3 true, but did you ask yourself how many faces does it have and if it's even possible to be inserted in fc2 or dcs? i tell you by now, even i don't understand russian, that model is a very high poly one, because if you look closer you may see its 3d rivets. and i tell you one more thing, tomcatz's model is excellent for what we need. good job tomcatz!
rhino Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 @tomcatz I’m glad to see that you make progress with the SA-10 system and to my surprise even with the SA-11 Buk ADS. Both systems needed an update badly, indeed. I don’t want to be nosy, isn’t it possible to get a release date before the DCS A-10C? A more personel question: Another eyesore with the old LOFC and FC2 was the skin of the C-130H Hercules which represented the late 70’s or early 80’s with a camouflage which remembers the SE Asia time period. It is well known that C-130’s for special missions still use camo skins. There is a skin-mod out there made by Alexandra (see http://www.checksix-fr.com/ -> Lockon – FC -> skins. She made several C-130H skins for the participating Nato members. Well, the skin-mod dated back to 2004 and had a very crude/low resolution which was probably common at that time due to graphics limitations. My question to you or your former team mate Mitch, to think about – time permitting – to create a new skin in the USAF version w/ the Pope AFB, or any other AMC squadron/wing, in high resolution and gray color. That is a small step to a wonderful flightsim with good looking aircraft and AirDef systems.
