Bee_Sting Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 i always get a client ping time out! i have a good internet connection. sometimes i do get on the server and play for sometime and then boom,i get kicked! what can i do to fix this?????
Panzertard Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Hm, have you served/hosted missions for other previously? In that case - some of the settings may be incorrect for the network.cfg. If not - then you need to check wether you use WLAN or other connection related issues. Perhaps you can tell us a bit more about your configuration / your PC and network? Panzertard Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Single-core PC? It's a bit unusual these days, not sure if it can affect MP performance. Hm. Okai, so you have hosted - good. But in some situations, DCS v1.0.2 may not obey the "LAN speed settings" in the MP-options, which sometimes contributed to ping timeouts. It could happen while hosting, but I cannot remember if the problem remained for MP-clients (like you are trying to do right ow - play online on other servers). Just a note for me for later: The fix. Instead, a few more general questions: - What kind of ping / latency could you see whe you were online with the DCS:BS server? 100ms or 300ms? - And on what servers did you get the Ping-timeouts? Where were you playing? - You did install the DCS 1.0.2 patch I hope? - Have you tried any tracert command (a bit techy) against the servers you played? If you said 'huh' right now thats allright, just wanted to know if you had that kind of info available. 'No' is a perfectly good answer. The mind is like a parachute. Panzertard Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 (edited) i have the lastes BS patch 1.0.2. Good, thanks. the server pings were good on the servers i tried to get on. Numbers in milliseconds? If you can be specific, it's easier for us to understand your situation. 150ms? 51' and 104th servers but get this i can join a server from china but not in europe or usa. So you get ping timeouts on 51th and 104th. Where do you live - US, Europe, Asia, Russia .. or? If you live in Europe, then this is a strange sitaution. If you live in Asia, then it may be a bit more normal. should i update java? No java is being used in BS. this work around will it work for BS? where would i edit the file in BS See this post for instructions: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=898992#post898992 1. Make sure you make a backup of the file. 2. You must NOT use regular NOTEPAD - you must use the Notepad++ program. I don't think you are suffering from this problem though - but it can be worth a test. Edited November 16, 2010 by Panzertard The mind is like a parachute. Bee_Sting Posted November 15, 2010 Author Posted November 15, 2010 (edited) i only get on servers with 100ping or less. i'm in sweden i don't have FC2 Edited November 15, 2010 by Bee_Sting
Panzertard Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 i only get on servers with 100ping or less. i'm in sweden i don't have FC2 FC2 and DCS:BS uses the same underlying engine, sharing the same config-changes. So you can use this trick on DCS:BS as well. Well, being in Sweden you shouldn't have any problems staying connected to US/European servers, no. It can still be your ISP of course, but I would guess it's bredbandsbolaget - and I think I know a few people who doesn't have issues using them. I'm starting to run out of ideas ... Let me attach a few "Ping timeout - easy steps to check for yourself": - Replace your cables! It's one of the easiest things to check - and darn cheap. - Using Wireless? Don't! Use cables from your PC to the router. - "Bigfoot Networks Killer XENO Pro" in your PC? Set it to application mode. - Can you borrow a router from a friend? Test-replace your own with a new one, and see if that improves your situation. - Router firmware upgrade/downgrade. It can be quite dangerous if you dont know what to do - it *can* break your router and leave you without internet and a very angry wife. But a few routers and firmware may cause undesired package loss (DLINK anyone?). - Your router logs - very easy to forget - find them and read them. The mind is like a parachute.
