mglouie Posted May 30, 2005 Posted May 30, 2005 Hi, I upgraded my ATI drivers first with the Omgea 5.4 and noticed the water now flickerd at med or high settings. I completely uninstalled those drivers and installed the ATI Cat 5.5 and the water still flickers. This didn't happen with my old drivers. What did I forget to set/unset or are these drivers not very good for LOMAC. Any ideas? Thanks, Louie 'Zeke'
Pilotasso Posted May 30, 2005 Posted May 30, 2005 unistall the drivers, clean the registry references to them, then install whatever driver version you had from scratch. When you swich drivers some settings of the new drivers are kept in the registry and seem active even when you change them. .
mglouie Posted May 30, 2005 Author Posted May 30, 2005 I used 'Driver Cleaner 3' in Safe Mode, after I uninstalled the drivers. Is there another step to uninstall the reg stuff? Louie 'Zeke'
Branco Posted May 30, 2005 Posted May 30, 2005 I have the same problem but only when I install Enhanced FPS Over Water Mod. I really like the mod and have a good frame rate improvement as well, but the lickering I get is pretty annoying. As you I use DC3 when changing drivers but I suspect I'll install it once again just to see if I get rid of the flickering. Currently I reverted to standard water
D-Scythe Posted May 30, 2005 Posted May 30, 2005 When does this happen? Like, if you use static F11 view, does it occur? Or is it only when you're flying?
mglouie Posted May 31, 2005 Author Posted May 31, 2005 Both, when flying over water. What I did with the suggestion above was to also replace my waternormal folder with the original. Problem seems to be fixed. Funny thing is with the older drivers, the FPS water inhancements worked fine with no flickers. The Flickers I saw were like large triangles blinking on and off all over the water. Louie 'Zeke'
D-Scythe Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 Maybe it's an AA/AF issue? In any case, if it happens near the horizon or something, try decreasing the visibility range in the mission settings (NOT in Options) to something like 50-70 km and see if that helps.
