KaspeR32 Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Hi all, I've made up my mind about purchasing an SSD and I only have one concern remaining. It's the SLC vs MLC choice. I read a few reviews on both, apparently SLC is no doubt better but WAY more expensive. And after reading a review on the OCZ vertex 2's they seem to run circles around the WX velociraptor. I'm still on a conventional 7200rpm drive so I'm thinking the 120Gb OCZ vertex 2 will be a HUGE upgrade for me without the need for an SLC drive. Also SLC has a much greater lifespan which had me concerned. Konovalov Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Regarding lifespan I don't think it is a big deal with the cheaper NAND chips. If the SSD lasts a few years then that's fine by me. I don't know too much of my hardware that has a lifespan past 4 years. I really don't think you should be worried about the SLC/MLC choice. Unless you have a Swiss bank account, just get a MLC SSD such as the OCZ you mentioned.
