I heard LOFC2 was bacially 2 programs and you have to wait 1-2 minute for FC2 to start up...but when you are "already in" FC2 doing some flying and get shot down or whatever and want to "fly again" or change planes why does it drop you back to the rediculous wait time sequence. This is not what I expected...am I missing something?? Frustrated!!!

Because of two things:

1) Because it's two separate executables.

2) You didn't have the respawn option active in your settings.

Several minutes seems excessive though - for me it's ~30 seconds, roughly the same time as I spend loading a map in Starcraft 2 or most other games.

the several minuted thing piqued my interest. I am running DCS BS on a Vista 64 bit home edition pc. the first time i installed the title, a 7 minute start time was not uncommon at all. In fact, it rapidly led to my walking away from the game for quite some time.

Later, when my HD failed, I reinstalled DCS and to my surprise everything ran extremely better.... on the order of 10-15 seconds to start vs. several minutes.

All I can suggest is that it may indeed have something to do with your install. DCS was a digital download purchase on my end so I would suggest reinstalling and running the install application as administrator and see if that helps things.

I know re-installs can be a pain - but i certainly don't want you missing out on any of the DCS/FC2 goodness.

Good luck

Etherealn: Where is the respawn option?? I do what DOOM suggested, walk away for the FC2 pgm install. My wait time from Quick Start(??) to FC2 (going from F15 to A10 for example) is over 90 seconds. I just want to get back into the fight in a reasonable period of time. Game runs well on my system otherwise. I did reinstall awhile back and no joy.

Permit Crash Recovery checkbox, in amongst the options for flight model and infinite ammo/fuel/etc.

Yup!! Overlooked that one...great for the staying in the session..Guess I will have to accept the long FC2 install when I change planes though.
